I bought the book first. Then after seeing other videos on PBS by Ken Burns I knew I had to have this DVD. I wasn't disappointed. Outstanding film.

This is an excellent documentary. There are already countless reviews about the content of this documentary so I will not repeat what has already been said. $64.95 is a good price. However; beware that this is not 50% off as advertised by Amazon. Barnes and Noble is selling at 23% off for memebers and it is $65.01 which is almost the same price as Amazon. For shoppers looking for deals, beware of Amazon's original price posted. For many items I checked, they are higher than Barnes & Noble's. As a long time Amazon customer, Amazon's false advertising practice upsets me. If you like this item, and like the price now then buy it. If you are looking for big discount, look again.

As is always the case with Ken Burns, his hard work and attention to detail keep the viewer locked to the screen.
Its all ther to see. The shock, the horror, the courage, the sacrifice. The world is a much better place to live in because of this "Greatest Generation". This is a "Must See".

The documentary is wonderful, you definitely won't regret buy this! Col. Glenn D. Frazier is featured in "The War" and has written an amazing book titled "Hell's Guest". I am honestly not really interested in WWII, but I couldn't put his book down! I stayed up all night reading it. I had the honor of meeting him in person and he is honestly the most fascinating person I have ever met. You need to buy his book! If you order it from his website he'll autograph it for you.

This is our second Ken Burns series to watch for history. We homeschool and last year we studied the Civil War and watched his series on that war. LOVED IT!!! So, this year, we started on WWII and I checked this series out. I never like history and didn't remember much at all from my days in school(even in college, I thought history was boring and just about dates!) Ken Burns makes my kids ask for history and they talk about what we watched that day. Great presentation and yes, heart-wrenching.
