My son wasn't even born yet when we received Spunky as a baby shower gift. I looked at it and immediately had wished that I bought it for him. Needless to say, he's now three and a half and he won't go anywhere without Spunky.
When looking for other stuffed animals, of the many things that we worried about, it was how well the animals were made. This one is extremely well made. Nothing on it can fall off, so no risk of choking. The material is very well stitched together and hasn't shown any risk of coming apart. It's a very safe stuffed animal for any age child.
We recently came across the puppy dog in a local toy store. We were shocked as we had never seen it before than. We would have bought it on the spot, but it had a rather annoying internal electronic barking mechanism. When we got home, I immediatly searched and ordered the dog on Amazon. Hence this review.
Long story later, it's been a great little friend for our son. In fact, we recently bought the pink one for a new addition to the family. I can't wait to see how that little one gets attached to Spunky! |

| There is something about Spunky. He will capture your heart. This was a gift for our son and I immediatelly fell in love. That cute look, the soft "fur", the cute bark. Spunky is cute as a botton. Not a lovey for our son, but a great toy, it is his pet. Buy this for all your friends and for yourself. I bet you and they won't be disappointed. |

My older daughter has a pink Gund kitty lovey that she can't live without, so when my second daughter came along we looked for an individual but "equal" counterpart to Kitty. We found it in Spunky (known in our family by my 14 month old as "Pup pup."
Spunky is squishy and insanely soft, with soft embroidered eyes (no choking hazards here!). He's not too big for a baby nor too small for a bigger kid. He is snuggly for bedtime but not so floppy that he can't sit on all fours if you want to invite him to a teaparty or otherwise play (as is the case in our family).
My daughter took to him instantly, and I bought 4 so we're always sure one is clean and there's no fear of losing him (our pink kitty was discontiued by Gund which was a travesty!). And speaking of the wash -- he goes through both washer and dryer and so far has come out as good as new! Highly recommended. |

| spunky has got to be the perfect stufffed animal. it is easy for little ones to hang on to, soft and has no parts to come off and be swallowed. and best of all he is machine washable. |

My daughter received a large (the jumbo) version of this at her birth. At 6 months she choose it as her "comfort" toy. At $50, I couldn't afford another one, so I bought the medium version. Well, I'd hate to see the small one. The medium is small in my book (hence the four stars), less than a foot big. Still, it's more travel size, so that's what we use it for.
A+ feature: it's machine washable.
I admit I had a similar experience as another reviewer, however. One of the dogs had a small hole in the neck. I sewed it and it's been fine.
They are cute and my daughter sucks on the ears. She still perfers the jumbo, but at $[...], who wouldn't.

I bought two of the of the slightly larger light brown spunky a year ago and my son won't go to sleep without them. He liked them so much that I bought two of the blue ones for my newest arrival. This is the type of stuffed animal that your child will get attached to so you need at least two of them.
From a safety perspective, they are great. The eyes are thread and there are no small pieces to come off for your kid to choke on. The stitching is very durable. They go in the regular washing machine. Mine have been washed at least 2 dozen times each and still look great.
The only small con is that they need a second ride in the dryer. |
