I am not a fond of writing review so please bear with my description. I ordered it as gift to my wife who is quite busy in and around home with 2 kids. This little tool started working from the first day and worked beyond our expectation. In fact after running for more than a month we are falling in love with Roomba every day. Only thing I make sure to clean it after each cycle which is easy to do with shop vac or other vacuum in your home. To me it takes only 2-3 min to empty the bin and clean brush so after working every day multiple time, it's filter still looks clean. I have big tiled area where it works perfect to collect little debries. It also works great on carpet. Overall we love it and will order more if needed.

Great on dog hair. 3000 sf of tile floor. Just turn it on & let it go. Docks itself when batteries get low. Easy dumping of hair. Towers work great for blocking off rooms. Very satisfied with this item.

I decided to order the Roomba when Amazon.com offered it at a great discount. My daughter ownes one and loves it and I put mine to work right away. It's amazing how much dust and dirt this little machine scoops up even after I swept the floor (we have tile throughout the house). It gets stuck a lot on flatfooted furniture but always has a full dirtbin. It's great to go to work and come home to a clean floor. On my days off I have it scheduled to clean at 1 AM and have a clean floor before Breakfast. I recommend it to any working mom.

My roomba arrived yesterday, my daughter promptly named him Georgie and we put him through the paces last night. With only a partial charge I started him out (too impatient to wait) we set up the lighthouses so he would do three rooms (shut the doors to the other rooms). Georgie did an excellent job - fun to watch too. So we left - came back to find that Georgie had made his way to the third room and got stuck in my bathrobe which I left on the floor - can hardly falt Georgie for that.
Back to the charger he went. Later in evening with full charge I brought him back to my room with the floor tidy. He worked and worked and worked until beep, beep. I press the green button and he tells me he needs his brush cleaned - that thing was so full of cat hair it was unbelievable (must have all been under the bed) such a smart Georgie to tell me he needed help.
After a brief cleaning I brought him down to my daughter's room - which she is supposed to vacuum every Saturday - Georgie worked and worked again - after about 20 minutes I picked him up and brought him to the garbage can. YUCK - how could there possibly be that much crap in the carpet.
This morning Georgie started out when the timer told him to - was well on his way to finishing the great room by the time I left for work. Now if they only made a robot to clean the tub and do the laundry.

I WOULDN'T SAY THAT YOU WILL NEVER VACUUM, BUT YOUR ROOM WILL BE SO MUCH CLEANER AND YOU WILL PROBABLY DO VACUUM LESS TIMES THAN USUAL WHEN THE ROOMBA IS THERE FOR YOU. GREAT PRODUCT. ONE LITTLE THING THAT KINDA BOTHERED ME WAS THAT THE DUST BIN WAS BIT SMALL AND THE MACHINE STOPPED SEVERAL TIMES IN A MONTH TO LET YOU KNOW TO EMPTY THE BIN. OTHER THAN THAT, IT IS THE BEST PRODUCT EVER. I WANT TO BUY ONE MORE.
I have been a fan of the Roomba vacuums for quite some time. I have an older model that I have run daily. I decided to add to my small robot army when I received an email from Amazon showing the model 550 to be on sale. I received the unit much quicker than I expected, and so far the unit has been nothing but amazing when compared to my old unit.
Cleaning of the vacuum is much the same as with other Roombas, and a deep cleaning is required every month or so. I shake out the filter daily, and weekly I rinse out the filter to remove any deep embedded dirt. The unit comes with three spare filters, so it is easy to keep the little robot ready for action. The included virtual wall/lighthouse units (2) help with keeping the little guy corralled.
I have been getting about an hour of run time with a combination of carpet and tile floor. I also have several cats, so the Roomba gets filled up pretty well with hair.
I would highly recommend this unit for someone who is looking for a first time robot vacuum. Once you have one, I think you will find that you will want more and more.
