| Had for about 6 weeks or more and am very happy with my choice. A feature I didn't think about when I bought it is that when not in use , just pull the paper and it folds up with 2 lids or flaps as solid as a bread box and that keeps dust and my cat from walking all over it. |

| I've had this printer for 30 days, and so far no problems. I haven't done anything special with it or asked anything special of it. It does a good job both in print and color-have not done any photos with it yet. It is noisey however, and it sounds cheap. It seams to make random noises when turned on but with no printing lined up as tho it's re-aligning the print head. The shiny black surface is a dust magnet. I have had other Canon printers, and have always been satisfied with them. |

"buy it if you can" | 2009-03-29 |

If you can find one buy it. I bought mine today for $40. I replaced my old HP DeskJet when it died. I work in a reprographics company, and worked in a commercial photo lab for 15 years, and shoot weddings on a part time basis. It's much faster than my ancient printer. (see above posting concerning printers with the printer head in the cartridges) The quality is very good. Documents look great. Photos are awesome. Installation was a snap. Having worked in a photo lab and a reprographics company I rarely need to print stuff at home. However since there were several pages of matte photo paper included I printed some photos. I was impressed. Stunning quality and very fast printing compared to my old printer. Not that I would try to sell these to my brides. But for a home printer it's pretty darn good. No I take that back it's real darn good.

"Perfect basic printer" | 2009-02-15 |

Okay, I haven't fully read all the reviews, but I skimmed the titles and I wanted to address a few things.
First, this printer is NOT slow. Judge the speed of the printer by the second page it kicks out, not the first. This printer is fast and snappy whether you're printing color or text. The FIRST time you use it, it has to load the system with ink and prep the print heads. This takes a while. After that, each time it's down or an extended period, it automatically preps the head again, which takes a while. This is not print speed, it's prep time. And it insures good prints. If you print regularly, it'll be snappy. If you print once a month, get an HP or something with the print head built into the ink cartridge.
I made the mistake of getting an Epson Stylus cx6000. The general construction was the same, but the ink wells had chips in them to "measure" the amount of ink left. Thing is, they were about 30% conservative. And when the chip said "no ink", you HAD to replace it or the whole machine would be useless (even the scanner). This Canon also has a user removable print head and 4 ink wells, but those wells are just plastic cases, they're cheaper than the epson to replace and they can be refilled.
The oddest part of this machine is the dual feeds. It's got the standard rear feed that takes many sizes (including envelopes and such), but it's also got a limited size front feed (A4, letter). This may not have immediately obvious benefits for a non-networkable printer, but it has neatened up my desktop a bit. I put my once-printed scrap paper in the front slot and use that fro printing "throw away" stuff like maps to parties, shopping lists, etc. I suppose this cold be very nice, too, if you had this as a remote printer in another room, et al.
And the other thing that sold me on this was the review that it's Mac friendly. Canon has been Mac friendly for a Very long time. In fact, they built the engines for most of the Laserwriter series. They KNOW how to build an installer, and a driver. They work well with the operating system and are nearly seamless. More than any other printer maker, I've trusted Canon on the Mac for .... about 20 years now.
Other features include boarder-less printing which allows you to print right to the edge of the page, and Pictbridge, which allows you to plug most digital cameras right in the front and print directly from the camera. |

| The Canon iP3500 operates quickly, reliably and quietly. The separate ink tanks and print head features allow very economical printing. You merely replace the color ink tank you need. The separate inkjet printhead is easily cleaned and reused. The photo quality is very good with various standard paper sizes offered. I especially appreciate its print speed, cost of operation and efficient paper handling. I have used laser, dot matrix and various inkjet printers. If you only have a choice of one printer, you cannot go wrong with this printer. |
