| This coffee maker is really great with the adjustable temperature for the heating element and the charcoal filter, it makes the coffee taste so much better. No more burnt coffee. I have really hard water and the filters take care of all of that. Truly the greatest coffee maker I have ever owned. |

I was researching Consumer Reports' ratings of coffee makers and found that this Cuisinart model was rated number 1!
After I knew what I wanted to buy, I went online to find the best place from which to buy this gift for my Mother for Mother's Day.
The best price and service was found at BensofMaine and so I ordered it from them. The customer service was excellent and I am very pleased with the experience of dealing with Amazon and its marketplace sites. |

I purchased this coffee pot in the color black/stainless steel. First, it has a sleek professional look. Note that it is a bit large, approximately 14 1/4 inch high.
The control panel at first glance was a little intimidating however after referring to the manual, I was able to program it with ease. I guess, the one feature that takes a little time to get used to is the fact that after using the auto programming feature, if you want to brew more coffee, you have to turn the knob from "auto on" to "brew" before you flick the toggle switch to turn the unit on. Otherwise, the unit is in the "wait" status until the preprogrammed time arrives. If you do this, it is easily corrected and I believe it just one of those little differences between coffee pots that you have to get used to. I should also note that it took several minutes to figure out how to remove the lid from the carafe (you'd think this would be a no brainer) and there were no instructions on this little feature. I kid you not; I struggled for about 20-minutes trying to gingerly remove the lid without breaking it. The lid is removed by simply grasping the lid close to the handle where there are two small tabs (that are easily overlooked) and pull up.
So basically, I love this machine because first and foremost, it produces really HOT coffee that taste great. The adjustable warming plate allows you to adjust the temperature of the plate to Low, Med, or High (mine is set at MED and that is plenty hot enough). You also have the option of selecting how long you'd like the warming plate to remain on, up to 4-hours. There is also a button you can push if you are only making 1-4 cups of coffee that will double heat the water before brewing to ensure that when the coffee is finished brewed it will be at the correct temperature. My unit also included the gold tone filter which eliminates the need for paper filters. There is also a decalcification feature that I have never seen on a coffeepot before; I suspect people who have hard water will appreciate this. It basically will illuminate a light to advise when the unit needs cleaned with vinegar and water. A water filter feature is also included in this unit and one charcoal filter arrives with the unit. You don't have to use the filter if you choose not to.
I love this machine, it was as great price (around $65) and I only wish I would have found this machine several years ago. I haven't had any problems with this unit.

This coffee maker looks great on the countertop. Having used this coffeemaker in a condo I rent every year, I knew it would be the one to buy. I was also pleased to see that it rated very highly in Consumer Reports. Our coffee makers get a workout in our house of coffee drinkers so we have been through a few, liking some and really disliking others.
I love all the features and the high quality build of this Cuisinart. You won't have any regrets buying this one! |
