This is the second 205W I have purchased. Bought the first 4months ago. Setup was fantastically easy, although I also opted to hook up the USB and update the maps right away which took minor wrangling, but I wouldn't call it hard. The nuvi locates satellites and gets a fix very quickly compared to other GPS units I've had, and the processor is fast: it sets up a route pretty much instantly. It has a great database of stores, restaurants, gas stations, other stuff, and has analytics on how you're driving, fuel economy, etc, which are really useful. The unit can stay on without power for roughly 4hrs on a full charge. Since this is one of the more moderately priced gps units now, you know you're giving up something, and the main something this one lacks is that when it's in speaking mode, it doesn't actually pronounce the names of the roads, "In 500ft turn left on Drummond" but rather "In 500ft, turn left". Big deal. I can read the screen and see that it says left on Drummond. So I wouldn't pay more to get that, but for some people, that matters I suppose. My other semi annoyance is that the power cable seems a bit bulky and in the way, but I suppose I could avoid that by having a $2000 *installed* gps. Yeah, forget it.
Overall, this is an excellent instrument at a very fair price, and honestly, it's so useful in so many ways I can say, I have no idea how I lived without it! |

Great product. Ive been using it for about a month now and have no major complaints. Love this little device and cant picture myself without it. PROS= Easy to read and use, price, accuracy. CONS= battery life leaves something to be desired, the touchscreen is a little off or maybe its because I have big fingers. Other than that, this little device is a life saver. Will pay you back in gas and stress saved from getting lost.

This is my first GPS unit. Rode with a friend that had a tom-tom but he complained about the recalculating time of that brand although he liked the free map updates. Thought I'd try this Garmin for under 90 bucks figured could upgrade down the line if I didn't like it. At this point the garmin nuvi 205w does everything I need. I use it a lot, even if I already know where I am going as it is great at pulling up closest gas, food etc when you need something while you are driving. Also, it shows you your estimated time of arrival so you know how early or late you are going to be when you get there. I don't miss the text to speech as the display is obvious and user friendly. My only complaint is my son keep borrowing it for when he is going somewhere new. I told him I already know his next birthday present! My only complaint (and it is a small one) is that I'd like to mute and unmute the sound easier than going through the settings menu. Maybe there is a quicker way that I have not learned yet, but overall I couldn't be happier. I'd recommend this unit to anyone who wants to try a GPS. If you already have one you probably want more bells and whistles, but all the necessities are in the garmin nuvi 2052w.

This is the first GPS system I've owned. In the past, I simply Googled the address to get to my destination and I would get there; however, If I wanted to go out, I would get lost or have to ask for directions. I purchased the Garmin nüvi 205W 4.3-Inch because I was going on a trip to Colorado and I wanted to go site seeing in Denver and Boulder. The device was easy to use and very accurate with turn-by-turn instructions, the device will NOT speak the name of the street but will tell you to make a right or left and you can clearly see where you need to make a turn and the name of the street is displayed at the top of the screen. It calculated the arrival time, the average speed I was traveling and the speed limit on the various stretches of the freeways I took. When I arrived in Denver and I wanted to find out where the nearest Costco, Target, Starbucks or gas station was, I would simply hit the "points of interest" button and I could select from general merchandise stores, gas stations, hospitals, etc. or I could type in the specific business I was looking for and it would tell me how to get there. With this device in the car I felt confident that I would not get lost, I hate asking for directions and just that alone was worth the price. I was able to get to the Denver Natural Sciences museum, Boulder Creek and many other places with this little device and it got me back to my buddy's house with just a few presses on the screen. I would definitely recommend this device to any body who's on the fence about purchasing it. I noticed a new slimmer and slicker model just came out so I'll keep an eye on it and when it comes time to replace this one, I'll purchase the new one.

It has already got me out of a traffic jam due to an accident, got me were I was going on a route I knew nothing of. Love it also because it tells me how long it will take me get were I'm going, the speed I am going, and the speed I should be be going. Picking up satellite signal even though I live in the boonedocks is not a problem.
