"Value and fun-wise, Oblivion is the best game that ever was!" | 2009-11-02 |

A big claim you say? I don't think so. I thought about it thoroughly and there is no question that Oblivion is the best game that ever existed. Engaging story line, diverse characters, a world of options but it never seems to be overwhelming. If you like simplicity, you will find it (kill, smash, repeat) or if you want complexity (intricate politics, brotherhood of assassins, planned and complex thefts, alchemy, etc) you'll get it to.
Oblivion has some faults, of course, like "robotic characters", but the good far outshines the bad. This is a game like no other. It is a complex world and will want to explore it. I'm no fan of hardcore RPG's where every single thing needs to be specified with 1000's of options, but Oblivion somehow balances it all and delivers a smooth experience.
For the current price of the game, this simply can't be beat. Oblivion will give you over 100hrs (or even more) of surreal game playing. No other game even comes close.
The best game ever, in my humble opinion. |

"Great RPG - Boring Combat" | 2009-10-30 |

| This is a great RPG is you really do like roleplaying. My only problem with it is the combat. It is extremely boring compared to just about any other RPG type game I've played (really just Final Fantasy, Everquest and World of Warcraft). Due to limited attack options, you generally just do the same few things over and over. It is possible this changes must later in the game, but I wasn't able to play for more than 10 hours before I got too bored and gave up. Combat seemed to be mostly one-on-one which I also found boring. |

| I played Dungeons & Dragons when I was 9 years old back in the early 80's... And who would have thought that a day would come when a game like this would be available to the world. This game is a blessing for all the RPG gamers out there and it shows you don't need a MMPO to have a great game. Sure improvments could be made, but overall its fun for HUNDREDS or thousands of hours and its open enough, and structured enough that anyone should have a blast for a long time. I foudn myself obsessed with this game and thirsting for more. If they ever make a new one, you can put me on the list. HIGHLY recommended!!!! |

"I enjoy this game so much I have it on both Ps3 and Xbox360" | 2009-10-21 |

There are few games that have enjoyed as much as Oblivion. The massive size of the game along with the freedom to do what you want make this a unique experience. The main quest alone could last you 20 to 30 hours. In the original game you could easily spend weeks or months on this game. With the addition of Knights of the Nine and the Shivering Isles expansion you are going to lose even more hours of your life.
So if you have both the Xbox360 and the Ps3 which version is the best? Both versions are great, and pretty similar to each other. The Xbox360 has some extra content you can download including horse armor and a few additional quests which can add a few more hours of content. The ps3 version has slightly better graphics in my opinion and plays a bit smoother overall. Less slowdown and freezing when I played the ps3 version. You are getting a great game no matter what version you go with.
The only negative that frustrated me at first was the somewhat broken leveling system. If you level up the way the game intends you will find yourself in big trouble when you hit level 10 or so. My first play I had this issue. There are ways around this issue and you should check out gamefaqs if you want advice on how to optimize your character for leveling up. Even if you level up wrong though you can adjust the difficulty of the game in the settings menu. Want to slaughter everything with one hit or so, push the bar all the way to the left. Want to make it a fight for you life every enemy you face, move the bar all the way to the right.
Now on to the score breakdown:
Graphics: 10/10 Beautiful graphics. Standing on a hill and seeing the lakes and cities in the
distance is amazing.
Sound: 9/10 Realistic battle sounds. Good background music. All characters have voice
acting. Only negative is there should be more variety in the voice actors used. Control: 9/10 Smooth battles for the most part. You can play the game in 1st person or 3rd
person perspective. The game is much smoother in 1st person in my opinion.
Replay V: 8/10 While the quests are the same each game, the way you develop your character
will be totally different.
Overall 9/10: You won't find many games this enjoyable out there. Hours and hours of fun for
$30. Definitely make sure you get the Game of the Year edition which has the
extra content. Happy gaming :) |

"Nothing new here, good game, has some flaws." | 2009-09-12 |

| I have the game on my computer, but bought it kind of as a gift, kind of to play on someones PS3. Don't like how there are only like 15 voice actors for the entire game. Don't like how people all seem to be of the same one or two molds. Other than that, great game. I do prefer the PC version for its customizability. But I accidentally got two games for the price of one, so I won't complain too much. The second game arrived a day or two after the first, so yeah. I only got charged for one, so whatever. |
