I've bought madden since they first came around back in the early 90s. Recent years, I commited to only buying a copy if my team wins the superbowl... and what do ya know... BOOM! Grats Steelers. Previous to that I've been playing Madden 2006 on the Wii.
From 2006 to 2009, I expected better graphics, and selection menus. This game is only a year old, and I feel that they could have gone a lot further in polishing up what they already had from the previous year. The reason I still give it a good rating is that it is still fun to play, and has that good fun factor of beating up your friends and their teams when they come over. However; if you're expecting much more from the previous year, you might want to just commit to 2010 or beyond.

| I have owned this game before, traded it, rented it and bought it again. It's safe to say that although it's like others, as far as gameplay goes, I just can't forget the feeling I got when I first stepped onto the newly designed field at invesco mile high and my jaw dropped. It's still the best looking of the series and much cheaper than the finely tweaked/tuned 2010 version. This game is one of the best madden experiences out there. And it's much easier for beginners. With the replay feature and simplified play calling, this might be the most intuitive madden game to date. Even the virtual training sim is very helpful. I think the poor reviews are from those who've been madden heads for the last 20 years. And in that case, I'd say you're burnt out and there's nothing they could do to satisfy you. Maybe once they're license expires and 2k can get back in the mix, things will be different. But if you're a casual gamer and love football, you can't go wrong with 09. I truly enjoy it. Still, the close ups in 06/07 we're really cool to see. |

| I've owned many Madden games before, and this is by far the worst. The game stalls constantly and the gameplay isn't up to the levels of years past. |

This is a great Madden.
For those that are struggling with the menus or 3D graphics, let me help you quickly. If you have a XBOX 360, the big white round button turns it on. If you have a PS3, to keep it simple, the round button in the center of the controller will turn it on. The two "joysticks" in the middle of the controllers are called "analog sticks" these days...and you use those to play....
As for the game. This is the definitive Madden. This is the first pro football game that trumps 2k5 finally. I was pleased with the graphics and gameplay. There is a small learning curve for the new style, but once you get it - it is very enjoyable.

| I'm surprised to see all the negative reviews for Madden 09, it plays a terrific game of football to me. My main beef with 08 was the choppy gameplay and that has been improved with 09's 60 FPS play on the PS3. The graphics are nicer and I like the commentary more than 08 as well. I learned many years ago that Madden is a much better value if you buy it one year behind, sure I won't have the latest rosters and features....but then I don't have to pay full price either. |

| Great game. Graphics are amazing on my Samsung 46" LCD. I imported my college player from NCAA 09. The only downside is, I got drafted by the Redskins. YUCK!!! |
