"Great for Skype on iPod Touch"

This adapter is a terrific fit for my needs. Using this item and Skype, my iPod Touch is now a Wi-Fi phone. This allows me to have an inexpensive second line at home without having to go back to a landline. The adapter fits the standard 1/8" plug used by 95% of headphones on the market. This is of particular importance for me, since the Skype/iPod Touch line is used by several family members, and we'd prefer not to trade ear wax by sharing Apple's iPhone earbuds. Instead, we use an over-the-ear headphone, or our own personal earbuds.
Sound quality is terrific, my friends tell me that calls made this way sound as good or better than my Razor. Here's another big plus: the microphone works on its own, whether or not there are headphones attached. This means it can be used for voice memos, field recordings, or as a speakerphone with Skype. I have not encountered any issues with feedback when using the iPod Touch as a speakerphone.
"Short term...."

I've only had this item for about 3 weeks now. So far it's working excellent. Just as all Shure products I've bought have. On the move it's kind of annoying being that it still reverts back to the old school wired earpiece for a cellphone. But as far as the quality that others say they hear me and the fact that I can use my SE530's with this makes it that much better. I really love the idea that I can sit with my iPhone plugged into my laptop, the mic in the phone, my headphones on my laptop for music/games and when someone calls me, I just take the headphones from the laptop to the phone for the call and then back to the laptop. If I didn't have to switch between the two for that, then it would be that much better. But I can't complain of a 3 second lapse in moving from one to the other. I'm not lazy, just like things to be easy.
"Great until it stopped working"

I bought this as a mic and external control for my ipod touch in conjunction with the modular shure headphones. Originally, the only problem I had with it was the placement of the control is a little weird. I like to have my headphone cable running up my back in order to keep it out of the way. When I do this with the remote, the remote ends up upside down and clipped to the front of my shirt. This ends up putting kinks in the wire that worries me. However, this was a pretty small problem and I still loved my Shures.
Unfortunately, the adapter now has shorted out and I'm getting very intermittent sound through them. This is extremely annoying as it means that my $30 investment has now been reduced to a piece of junk. I really expected better of Shure.
"Other than the length of the cable"

Other than the length of the cable the product works great! Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to use your own ear phones and have the ability to pause and jump to the next song on your iPod, or in my case, iPhone. Hope this helps.
