This is a high quality car seat, but the one thing that would make a car seat the most unsafe applies to this one. My son can easily get it unhooked and remove himself from it. That means that this very very very safe car seat is not safe at all. He has only done it two times - but if he continues to do it - I am going to try to get Graco to send me some other straps or something - I spent way to much on this thing to just stop using it.

True to the Graco brand, this car seat is user-friendly, cost-effective, good-looking and simply gets the job done. Assembly was quick and simple and instalation was a breeze, (it took about 25 minutes total). The cup holder and easy strap adjustments are great features. And my son seems perfectly comfortable and happy in his new seat.

We recently purchased this car seat to replace our worn out http://www.amazon.com/Evenflo-Triumph-Advance-Convertible-Seat/dp/B000YZD0QM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1258385183&sr=8-1 (it had been through 3 boys). We loved the Triumph, but it does not have the ability to grow with the child after a certain point.

The Graco Nautilus was easy to setup, seems comfortable for our boys, and is easy to loosen and tighten. The only complaint is the shoulder straps are a bit of a pain to move up and down, but you don't have to do that much, so it's not too big of an issue.

We would highly recommend this product.

I bought two of these car seats, one for my 22-month old and one for my 3-year old. I love everything about this car seat except one thing: The girls' heads slump onto their chest when they sleep, which keeps waking them up. It seems other parents do not have this problem, so I am wondering if maybe it is the car. We're using them with a Volvo XC70, and we have reclined the car seats.

Here is what I like:
- Very sturdy and good quality
- Memory foam makes the seat soft and comfortable
- Price
- Super-easy to assemble, install and move (it's not as heavy as some others)
- It's convertible
- The kids love the cup holder and "cubbies" in the arm rests

Because we travel to grandma's house frequently, which is a 1-1/4 hour drive, it is frustrating that the girls can't sleep in it, which is why I gave it one point less in the rating. I've contacted Graco for advice and will update the post if they have a solution.

This is our second Graco Nautilus car seat. We currently have 5 different convertible car seats from Recaro, Britax, Eddie Bauer, and these Graco. The Graco is the best bang for the buck and has some nice advantages. What we like the most is the easy belt movement. The belt sits on easy running rollers and when you pull it in and out it is very smooth and easy. All the other car seats aren't nearly as smooth and the belts often get stuck. Other than that it has unique storage pockets and an easily adjustable headrest. Overall nice quality heavy duty materials, but no premium materials - kind of like the Toyota of car seats. Our Britax and Recaro have nicer materials and colors.

As far as the negatives I would say that you can't use it rear facing, but I don't care for that. You have to feed the belts in and out when adjusting the height. Our Britax has a handy wheel to do that, so that's much easier. I feel that other more premium car seats like Britax and Recaro might have better side impact head protection since they have bigger and tighter side wings. The latch connectors are simple hooks instead of sophisticated snap in connectors as in others.

The positives outweigh the negatives because the Graco's advantages benefit you day to day (easy belt movement, storage), while its disadvantages only matter occasionally when adjusting the seat or installing it.

I did lots of research before buying this car seat for my 25# 2.5 year old, who was outgrowing her current car seat. I liked the quality and safety of the Britax, but this Graco has the same standards, features, and durability of a Britax for MUCH LESS. I think it is simple and easy to install, and is very durable and seems to wear well with kids. My main concern was safety, and this seat more than lives up to those standards. I love that it is the only car seat my daughter will ever need from now on! Think of the money saved. It has a little cubby on the side, and she loves to hide toys and food in there. The cupholder is great for her sippy, and the cushioning seems to be very comfortable for her. All these are great pluses, in addition to the awesome safety ratings. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I wish we had bought this after she outgrew her infant car seat, instead of buying a short-term interim seat. Oh well. We are very satisfied with this seat, and are getting ready to buy another for our 11 month old son, who is about to outgrow his infant seat.
