"Great AC for apartments with slider windows! =^.^="

This is my second air conditioner of this type from Frigidaire. The other one I've had for two years and is the 8000btu model.
Both have been trouble free and very easy on the electric bill. The energy star features really seem to make a big difference and the remote is a definite plus.
These units are fairly easy to install and a great deal with the free shipping. =^.^=
I highly recommend these and have told all my friends about them when they ask me about my air conditioners.

I bought 2 of these units to go into my slider windows. They are great, quiet and get the house cold quickly. The install was pretty simple too. I highly recommend this unit. Make sure you open the boxes and check them when they arrive. The first 2 came out damaged, but were replaced with undamaged units. There was a bit of a time delay to get this fixed because I live on the west coast and these units were truck shipping from NY. The company was good and offered 30% off to keep the damaged units (started at 10% and went up to 30%), but I wanted non damaged, so they promptly sent the new ones.

Not that easy to install and needs extra brace. But it does the job you pay for extremely well
"Great Product"

Product, price and delivery service was great, so good I bought a second unit a week later
This A/C unit meets my expectations based on the product description but it could be improved. In my case it is installed in a bedroom sliding window where it provides ample cooling for that room. The built-in fan isn't powerful enough to push the cool air into other rooms but with the help of a floor standing fan I get reasonable cooling of another bedroom and the living room as well. It will never be a substitute for central A/C but in a rental apartment, there is no option to install central A/C or even the ductless mini-split systems that would otherwise be preferable. I expect this A/C unit would be very well suited for cooling a large open room such as a living/dining area where it doesn't need to push cool air through doorways or around corners.
The digital control panel and remote control are decent but the timer function is quite primitive. There is no recurring or 24 hour timer. Its annoying that the timer has to be set manually every day. And the timer can only do one thing at a time. Either it can be set to turn on after the set number of hours, or it can be set to turn off after the set number of hours, but it cannot be configured for both on and off timers simultaneously.
Installation was pretty straightforward and took less than 90 minutes but the unit is quite heavy so be prepared for that. I'd recommend downloading the instruction/installation manuals from the manufacturer's website prior to purchasing so that you know what to expect. Other than that, the energy usage can be quite high if the unit is running 24/7 at a low temperature - in my case it more than doubled my monthly bill. I will need to find that balance between comfort/cost. Also, while this unit doesn't require it's own dedicated 20A circuit, it is possible to overload a circuit if you run this unit and one or more other high powered devices (hair dryer, iron, etc) on the same circuit. If you go much higher than 12,000 BTU you'll probably need a dedicated circuit.
My only other complaint is one that applies to all A/C manufacturers - the casement/slider air conditioners always seem to cost a lot more than the horizontal air conditioners. Surely the cost of manufacturing isn't that much different that they can justify a 50-100% higher retail price.
My unit was delivered by a third party shipping company (CEVA). I had no problems with them. They called and scheduled a delivery time with me and delivered when they said they would.
"BUY IT AT LOWE'S"

This is probably a fine air conditioner. The only reason I am giving it one star is the buying experience on Amazon. Item was shipped through CEVA which, besides being slow, has the worst product tracking I have ever encountered (save for perhaps the US Postal Service). Not only did it take 10 days for the unit to arrive, but when it did, it was totally smashed on two sides. I'm not talking about just dented. It was smashed and broken. Whoever dropped this thing knew it had to be damaged yet allowed it to be delivered anyway. Save yourself the hassle and buy it at Lowe's. The price is cheaper and you can take it home the same day. I will write a postscript to let you know how the refund process goes with Amazon.
