| I would recommend this camera to anyone (canon sd770is). sony, olympus, etc, cannot compete with the r&d $ that canon throws at it's cameras. the picture quality is stunning, the camera is solid and real. every photo professor I have ever worked with goes with canon when they go digital. I got this one due to the small size and weight--I am a climber. This camera was made for me--I understand digital cameras and what they should do... I also own a lower-end digital rebel (10 meg, 2009 model, about $1k retail). wow, now that is a camera--(apples and oranges to the sd770is). I am a serious photographer as well as a point-and-shoot fool! :) the lightweight of the sd770 is absolutely fantastic. save yourself some time and quite shopping other brands--just figure out what you want in a camera and then what canon fits that bill and then start looking at various vendors for the best price. skip any extended warranty--not necessary--spend the extra money on a big memory card. battery works well for a full week of shooting in the field, as long as you don't spend lots of time looking at your videos. (I bought a back-up battery and have only needed it a couple times.) these new batteries are way better than just 2 year ago... oh, also the buttons are big enough to be navigated with liner gloves on. enjoy. 6/2009 = posted. I have absolutely no affiliation with canon or any camera company--I am a art professor. |

| I bought this camera to take snapshots of people and places while traveling. I've had it for 3 months now and love it. Takes great pictures, images and colors come out clean and crisp. Comes with good features, including contiuous shooting mode, black and white, sepia, and other color accent features. I get a lot of red eyes in pictures, but camera has an automatic red-eye correction feature which works wonderfully. I especially like that in addition to the large screen, it has a view finder, which is hard to find now in small cameras. Battery lasts a long time. Highly recommend it. |

| good picture quality, pretty decent functionality selection. I also have Nikon D60 SLR camera, and interchangeably taking pictures with both of them. Of course you can see the difference in quality, but still the cannon SD770IS pictures looks pretty good next to professional camera pics. |

| Bought this for a trip around South America and couldn't be happier with how it worked. Excellent battery life, fair amount of options for those who don't have much experience taking pictures and the quality of the pictures were consistently good. Especially like the fact that it easily fit in my pockets and the fact that the battery charger had the plug built into it, therefore not requiring a separate cord. Camera also records decent video. For an all around camera, I highly recommend this. |

| When my previous canon snap shot camera was accidentally hit by a flying ball and broken (it's okay, accidents happen!) I was forced to go camera shopping. I didn't want to pay anymore than $200, so I was not able to replace it with the same model as my first one, even though I loved that lil' camera. I dedided to try a $150 Nikon...what a mistake! I was not impressed with the photo quality whatsoever. So, I found this camera, the Canon SD770, for around $200. I love everything about it! It has tons of scene modes that actually work right! It's easy to use, has excellent photo quality, great battery life, I can't say enough good things about it. We took it on vacation to Maui with us and it performed like a real trooper. I purchased a $35 underwater pouch for it (see my other reviews) that I would highly reccomend you buy to go along with this camera. I give the camera an A+++! |

This is a great first camera for someone looking to have it for a long time. It's a small, compact camera perfect for sticking in your pocket. The LCD screen is very bright and the viewfinder is perfect for those very sunny days. It takes high quality pictures and videos that are perfect for most amateur applications. It's very easy to use right out of the box. The battery has a good life to it(I've never timed exactly how long it lasts) and with a 4 or 8GB memory card, you'll be taking pictures constantly!
For the price, you can't beat this camera for it's simplicity, quality, and durability. |

"The Canon SD770IS is a great all-purpose camera - tons of features in a tiny package" | 2009-06-03 |

Before I bought the SD770IS I owned a Canon PowerShot A560. I liked the image quality and the virant colors, but I quickly became very frustrated with the bulkiness, the horrendous battery consumption, and the lack of image stabilization. I wanted to get a replacement camera before a planned trip to France. After a day of online research I decided on the SD770IS, and this turned out to be one of my best electronic purchases in years.
The colors and picture quality are outstanding (the 10 MP really pays off). The battery pack lasts and lasts. Shooting videos or pictures in conditions which work the image stablization (like low light) burn through the battery the quickest, but the battery should still last you all day. On my trip I shot about 1,500 pics and about 2.5 GB of video and the quickest I burned through a battery was a day and a half.
The image stablization was one of my main motivations to get a new camera and this doesn't disappoint. I was able to get very nice pictures in catacombs, in dimly lit museums where flashes were not allowed, and by candlelight. Considering that almost all of these were hand held shots (no tripod) I'm astounded how well they came out.
The camera's about the size of a deck of cards so it slips into a pocket without any problem. It's a joy to take it along and know that you have all the camera you want and not feel like you're lugging around a brick. The only knock I have against the camera is that it only has a 3x optical zoom, but I'll trade that for the rest of the features. Besides, the fact that you're shooting with 10 MP makes your digital zoom shots pretty decent.
Now, I'm no professional photographer, I'm about as amateur as they come. So if you really know how to take pictures and you're looking for the kind of quality you can get with a $5,000 camera, this one isn't for you. But if you're looking for very good quality at a reasonable price*, great battery life and image stabilization, tons of features, all in a tiny light weight package, I can't recommend the SD770IS highly enough.
* In the interests of full disclosure I happened to luck out and find this camera on sale for $150. However, I was prepared to pay the full price and if I had I still think I would feel like I got my money's worth. |

I Love my ubiquitous Canon digital elph. I had the oh so common sd750 but I misplaced / lossed it which gave me an excuse to upgrade to this one at the great price of 149.00 and I am glad that I did. In addition to taking excellent pictures. It is very user friendly, now I know how to change the settings in a snap depending on what picture situation I am in.
The video capabilities are also fabulous and look great. I had been eyeing a flip mino then I said to myself that would be just a waste of money because my camera record vids just as conveniently and sure nough. the vids taken on here look much better than the flips vids do. I have a 2 gb SD card that hold tons of pix and video depending on what quality you select. if you select the best quality you can take up to 550+ pics which is fine with me. I can always get a 4gb card or upload the pics to my computer and start over. The ease of storage with the standard SD cards is a plus as well. I can go on and on but if you purchase this camera, it definately will not dissapoint. I have owned cameras that were 3 times the price of this one and this one blows them all out of the water. |
