"Great Software"

I purchased this to convert my old 33 records and cassette tapes over to CDs. I received the software package, after reading the instructions, I set it up and it worked perfectly the first time. I was a little hesitant on purchasing this after reading some of the reviews but I personally found nothing wrong. Audio is clear and actually sounds better than straight off the record player. I would recommend this to anyone who wishes to preserve their older audio tapes/records to new CDs. I recommend you purchase an external hard drive since the audio can consume quite a bit of hard drive space.

I got this couple of month ago as my Creative product died after 2 years. I have converted about 100 tapes to CD's as well as mp3 files. I have used this product to take the audio output from my old Nakamichi tape deck and hook it up directly with the USB port of my PC. The softwar is amazingly easy to install and use. The configuration infromation for the PC is accurate and easy to follow. The editing software is user friendly and easy to use.

It does everything that I was told that it would do even better than I was told. It records music with no excess noise at all. When I read other people's reviews of the Xitel Inport Deluxe I know that they said that it was good, but I doubted that they were judging it on the same scale that I would be looking at it. I have now used this device and it functions on a level that can be compared to recording studios. I am happy. Don't worry about this product. It is your recording solution for whatever recording problem you are experiencing. The only real problem that you have if you are reading this review is that you haven't gotten yourself one yet.
Ridiculously easy to set up, install and configure the software, connect to an audio "OUT" source and use. Did it all first time out of the box and with a vintage battery operated Sony Walkman no less! Just follow the simplified instruction booklet and you'll be good to go.
My mom had a lot of very, very old 16-2/3 RPM and 78 RPM family voice recordings that I originally transferred over to a cassette for her 20 years ago to help preserve them for posterity. The original recordings - now all long gone somewhere - were under 3 minutes in length and made on novelty recording devices with very thin and inexpensive vinyl discs in both Times Square (NYC) and also at the USO. All were made during WWII and reflected one-way conversations from my mom, sister, aunts, uncle, etc. to my dad while he was in service in The Pacific Theater and vice-versa. Except for one person on the recordings, my sister and then a baby, all the others heard on them have since passed and so these recordings are a family treasure if you will. My adult children know only a couple of the folks.
Unfortunately, in the 20 years since I made that cassette, the tape itself now catches and drags in my stereo's player but mysteriously plays flawlessly in my old Walkman. So, not wanting to risk damaging the tape, I had to adapt.
The only thing I had to do for this unusual task was purchase a 6' cable from a local electronics retailer that had two RCA phono plugs on one end and a miniature stereo plug (headphone) on the other end. The cable that comes with the INport features RCA phono plugs on both ends and I'll use it for transferring over music from my stereo later on.
Basically, I connected the headphone jack of the battery operated Walkman to the RCA inputs on the INport with this additional cable, pressed PLAY on the Walkman and RECORD on the software. Tremendous results the first time out. I then used the software to remove most of the clicks and pops and then took the de-clicked results and ran them through a second time to remove even more of the noise, but not all of it. Excellent results. After all, these original recordings were made cheaply over 67 years ago! Some pops and clicks are part of the recordings' charm and should therefore remain.
Now, I'll use the software to trim the blank spots in-between the recordings a bit and tighten up the file so that it's easier and more enjoyable to listen to and also smaller. After that, I'll transfer the file on CD's and distribute them among my family members for posterity.
Kudos to Xitel for making all of this a very affordable and extremely simple, straightforward exercise.
"Works as advertised"

This product is simple to install and works as advertised. I tried doing the lp to cd conversions with my PC sound card but the stereo did not work and only one channel came through properly. I did try to convert a mono record (Hi-fi from the 50's) and the DeClick software would not recognize the file. I just reconverted using the stereo setting and everything seemed to work.
