| This is an awesome mixer which offers lots of input options for the budget musician. Truth be told, I really don't know much about mixing gear but it does what I needed very well in order to record my own home demos. This is a great value for the money! |

"Great Mixer" | 2009-09-23 |

| I was pleasantly surprised at how well this little mixer performs. It was exactly what I needed to record myself singing karaoke on the computer. For the price it does a very good job. I don't detect any hum at all and I only get hiss when I crank the volume up too high. I recommend this mixer for your home studio. |

This product is well-built and would be quite useful for someone who's just getting started or when budget prohibits shopping for higher-end products.
I am returning the product because I am highly dissatisfied with the tone of the preamp. I was hoping to put this between myself and an M-Audio Firewire 410 so I wouldn't have to keep resetting levels between bass, guitar, etc. However, the Firewire 410 preamp sounds so many times better than the preamp in the 802 that I was forced to abort mission.
Fiddling with the Eq made things a little better, but the difference between the 802 and direct is still unbelievable. Plus, who wants to put a bunch of Eq on an incoming recording signal and have one more thing to mess with trying to get ideas down?
I give the 802 three stars because it seems like a quality product, but would advise more discriminating users to save up and get something with a better preamp. |

"Decent mixer, good price" | 2009-08-28 |

I purchased one of these mixers for some remote video recording (using the mixer for the audio portion, obviously) recently and found it to be a good on-site mixer, with only a few draw backs. I had set it up with 4 microphones (2 mono XLR Behringer dynamic and 1 mono 1/4" TS dynamnic behringer, and 1 mono 1/4" TS dynamic Philips) set up around the subject. I am not sure if it was the mixing of pre-amped with non-amped inputs, the placement of the mics, or the mics themselves, but the sound came out a bit "tinny." I suspect the mics were the problem, so I am planning on buying 4 new Behringer condenser mics (2 c-4 AND 2 c-2).
The main problem I had with the mixer - which could be attributed to the mixer - was the number of pre-amps and XLR inputs. The 802 would be nice for a small, close-in production, but I would hessitate using it in a band, where multiple inputs are desirable. To that end I plan on purchasing one of the 1204 units and using this as a back-up mixer.
While the mixers are nicely portable, they would be useless in an outdoor operation, where battery power would be required.
On the whole, the 802 is a nice little unit, and very useful to the home/small studio enthusiast. |

"It's a pain to get it connected to PC" | 2009-07-29 |

I bought this along with a condenser microphone (Behringer C1) hoping I would be able to connect it to the PC easily. I bought an 1/4" to 1/8" cable at the music store and tried every port on the mixer with no luck. Turns out I had to try 4 different cables and adapters until I finally was able to get it to work. Even the guys at our local music shop that handle PA systems for a living couldn't get this to work.
Trying for one last time, I headed to Radioshack and bought a Y adapter for the 1/8" connector to the PC microphone port. Using a standard RCA cable and plugging it into the CD/Tape Output, it finally worked. No hiss, all stereo sound. I was happy. My voice sounds clean and clear, but my guitar sounds mediocre. Oh well, can't win them all, especially at this price.
For those that are wanting to hook it up your PC (I've searched forever with no luck, so I'm helping you guys out):
You need to buy these things: Condenser mic (with XLR connection..the 3 prongs) This mixer Standard red/white RCA cable 'Y' adapter to convert RCA to 1/8" connector
Condenser microphone - Plug it into the MIC port Standard red/white RCA cable (on both ends) - Plug it into the CD/Tape OUTPUT port 'Y' adapter that converts RCA to 1/8" - Plug it into your PC microphone or Line-In port.
Make sure your Level 1 and MAIN MIX volumes are up, otherwise you get no sound. I'm sure there's a better cable than the RCA that'll produce a better sound, but this is still a good sound. Make sure the cables are stereo and not mono.
