I bought this item because our Church video projector would display rolling lines as it projected the video on the screen. I could remove the ground using a plug adapter and the lines would go away. However, removing the ground would remove any protection for our $8,000 projector. I read about ground loops on the internet and saw this product. We received the HUM X last week and tried it on our projector. It worked great. Lines are gone and our project is still grounded thru the HUM X. So far, I would highly recommend trying the product out.

I have always had a ground loop hum caused by interference between my cable TV line and my amplifier. I previously attacked the problem with a ground loop isolater on my cable line which worked fine for awhile, but then certain channels began to be blocked by the isolater. I was able to stop the hum by lifting the ground on my amp with a cheater plug, but to be on the safe side, I thought I'd give the Hum-X a try since it's supposed to kill the hum without lifting the ground.
I plugged the Hum-X into the wall and plugged my surge protector into the Hum-X, and the hum was gone. For me at least, a great result. If you want to be cheap and don't mind an ungrounded component, get a cheater plug for $2. If you don't mind spending $65 and want to play it safe, the Hum-X might be just what you're looking for: hum gone, ground intact, and no channel interference. Perfect.

Assembled a low budget home theater system using a Philips universal/region free DVD player, a small vacuum tube amp and a Samsung monitor. The monitor added a 60hz hum. After reading a few web articles about ground loop hum and what to do about it I had two problems: a headache and a hum.
The negative reviews of this product seemed to boil down to the receipt of a defective example of an otherwise sound design so, fingers crossed, I bought one. It works and, while I hesitate to call the creative application of the laws of physics a miracle, I think the following from Sir Arthur C. Clarke apropos:
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

I don't typically write reviews for products, but I am a technician and I had a ground loop in a television. I spent two whole days working on trying to eliminate the grounding issue and even had my electrician come over and try. Nothing worked. I decided to try this and it worked like a charm. I only wish I had this on the first day. I am going to start stocking these on my truck.

I run a DJ business and just switched to using a laptop and powered speakers. I was getting an awful loud buzzing noise coming from my speakers. I read in another review that my Dell Volstra laptop had a ground problem and created a ground loop. I never would have thought it would happen. I unplugged the power supply and ran off the battery and it was noise free. I plugged in the power supply again and it Buzzed again. I bought the hum X and it safely kept my ground an stopped the buzz. Well worth the money. AAA+++
