I agree that Bose is "over-priced." You pay more for the name but then something happens, you actually HEAR the difference. I have not ever had one flaw from any of the many Bose products I've owned over the years and the SoundDock II does not disappoint either. For being such a small unit the bass response and mid-range is fantastic. It brings all of my favorite tunes to their full sonic spectrum. It would be a tragedy for you to shell out for an ipod dock and not seriously take the Bose into consideration. All and all I definetly consider it one of the best docks out there, and worth the extra money.
"Ok, but expected more..."

This works fine with my iPhone 3GS.
The sound quality is ok for its size, but it's but far from "great" - muddy highs and the bass, while reasonably strong, could use better definition. It achieves a decent volume in a largish room.
I kinda expected better stereo imaging from Bose. I *really* expected better build quality. The speaker section is solid, but the docking bit is flimsy and feels like it could break off if I look at it wrong.
Controls are minimal. There are no adjustments to the sound beyond volume.
Seems a bit overpriced given its flaws, but overall it does what I expect it to - provide a nice music ambiance from my iPhone in a non-critical listen environment.
"Great sound and easy to use"

As others have said you get what you pay for and this is probably one of the best sounding ipod dock on the market. I've researched and listened to all the other ones and wasn't initially sold on Bose because of the high price. Then visited a lot of stores and listened to all of the comparable priced ($150-$300)ones side by side and the Altec Lansing came close, but still the Bose has clearest sound at the low, high and midranges. Unless you are an audiophile you may not care about it and can save $100+. But if you listen to them side by side you can tell the difference. One minor thing the Bose lacks is the stereo seperation, but for its size not bad. Some other docks have a stereo seperation feature and maybe Bose could incorportae that in the next series III. All in all, most won't be dissapointed and this is a B-day present for my wife so I didn't want to dissapoint her and I chose the Bose.
I bought it at Electonics-Expo and they shipped it quickly the same day and I recived it in 2 days.
"disapointing -not worth it"

I have found this to be disapointing. the Bose sounds much better in the Bose showroom but sounds very ordinary at home. It works ok but I cant say I would recommend it and it certainly does not sound like a top of the line product. I am not getting that rich, fill the room sound they rave about. The construction is light and poor quality. The bottom part wiggles and is not securely attached. The little remote is incredibly cheap feeling -- and if you lose the remote, I dont think there is any alternative way to use the apparatus. I dont know if it is just me, but I find it tricky to fit my ipod into the slot. It does not slide on easily and I have to fiddle around with it. I could maybe deal with all this if the sound was incredible, but it is just ordinary. This Bose just does not warrant the hype or the money. If I could, I would return it and buy something else. Save your money.
We purchased this product in May and within 3 days it died -- dead, kaput. We exchanged it for another -- in less than a week it died. As if I had no sense, I exchanged it for yet a third one. After all, it's a Bose -- I paid extra for the quality, so this must be a fluke, I thought to myself.
Well, guess what? Our third one just went kaput in the middle of a big Labor Day weekend party!!! These things are J-U-N-K.
I love this thing! I have had some near hits but mostly misses in my search for a portable speaker system. This one provides a docking station for iPods and recharges them at the same time. It also lets me connect my other MP3 players (Creative Zen is still my favorite) without a hassle. The sound coming out of these speakers is amazing compared to other systems I have tried. The only one that beats it is the Harman Kardon SoundSticks II 2.1 Plug and Play Multimedia Speaker System but that one is not so portable. This baby has a battery option that allows it to be taken anywhere although the dimensions are not suitcase friendly. A minor flaw compared to all the pluses.
I highly recommend this sound system for any iPod or MP3 player. It is expensive but worth the price.
