Here is what people are saying about the Rock Band 2 Triple Cymbal Expansion Kit
5 Star Rating  "You NEED the cymbals"2009-11-05

The cymbal extension is must have for Rock Band. After getting the cymbals my scores went up at least 20%. It adds a touch of reality to a already kickin' game.

4 Star Rating  "Great addition but not flawless"2009-11-02
- Reviewed By User: AD34UFKPBVK1M
I really like these cymbals, but I have 2 issues with them. One, they are noisy. I play an electronic drum kit at church and the cymbals are much quieter when I hit them. Secondly, the additional weight made the whole kit slowly slip down until they were too low to play. I ended up drilling the support poles and putting cotter pins in them to keep the kit from slipping. Overall, though I think these are great.

I haven't quite got used to the cymbols but it does make the drum set feel realitic, shipping was fast and the quality was new just as advertised. I am enjoying the addition to the rock band2 drum set very well couldn't be happier

5 Star Rating  "Great Peripheral Extension!"2009-10-23

These are Great! They make the drum kit so much better and as realistic as they can be! It's only happened twice, and not in the last 6 months, but a rattling happened in one of the cymbals. After opening the back, it was just the retaining clip that had slipped off. Easy fix though!

5 Star Rating  ""Plastic" Noise Modification"2009-10-20
- Reviewed By User: A1VKVYWBEDGMIL
First off, I believe these cymbals fantastic. It makes it feel more realistic and significantly easier to play.

That being said, I initially noticed the same annoying "plastic" sound when I started using the cymbals. I tried putting Rock Band Drum Silencers on the top of the cymbal, like someone suggested, but the sound was still there. I tried tightening the colored wingnuts and that still didn't help. After analyzing the cymbals a little more, I noticed the "plastic" sound was coming from the housing on the underside of the cymbal. The noise was created from the hard plastic housing hitting the hard plastic on the body of the cymbal. Once I realized that, I knew inserting a rubber-like gasket would fix the problem.

To fix the plastic noise:
1. Unscrew the four small screws holding down the plastic housing
2. Cut up a small rectangle of the Rock Band Drum Silencers or mousepad-material (about 0.5" x 3")
3. On the side nearest the cymbal hitting zone, placed the material between the edge of the housing and the body of the cymbal. You do not need to adhere the material to the surface using tape or glue, because the screws will secure it in the next step.
4. Then replace the 4 screws, snuggly squishing the material.

Note: You'll notice the housing won't completely screw down flush with the surface, but that's good since you're preventing the two surfaces from hitting each other, while having a rubber-like material damping the shock.

I've been using the cymbals with this mod for about 6 months with no problems. Now my cymbals are about as quiet as the rest of the drum kit.

I hope this helps someone.

3 Star Rating  "A buzzkill because they're too loud."2009-10-13
- Reviewed By User: A1FIDA2QPGZIKQ
I was anxiously waiting for the Beatles Rock Band package to come out, and I was also excited to get the 3-cymbal expansion pack for the upgraded wireless drums. That way, I surmised, it would be a good substitute for a wireless drumset, right? I had been using the an RB1 set that a friend wasn't using, so I was well aware of how loud the original was. When I finally got the Beatles RB set, I was blown away at how much quieter they were-you could actually hear the song! So to complete my set, I ordered up the cymbals right away. I haven't had any of the sensitivity issues or other problems that so many other people complain about, but I was immediately bummed when I discovered how loud they were when you strike them with a drumstick. I'm going to say that they're actually louder than the RB1 drums. Lame. If I had known I how much louder they were than the actual drum pads, I probably wouldn't have bought them.

It's still turns your kit into an impressive-looking setup, and it definitely makes playing more fun and a more accurate simulation to playing the real drums. However, if I fool myself too much into thinking that it's a real drumset, I start PLAYING it like a real drumset, which goes against the whole RockBand goal: you're not playing an instrument, you're trying to achieve a score. So when I get myself too worked up and into playing, my score winds up being worse.

Furthermore, this is NOT a replacement for an electronic drumset. Aside from the distracting "SMACK!" every time you hit a note, the cymbals and the drums don't register anything faster than a 16th note, there's no hi-hat pedal, you have to turn the volume all the way up to be able to only hear the sound of the drums, etc, etc, etc. I'm a guy who enjoys playing real music with real instruments AND getting together with friends to have a simulated rock-out, but the line separating the two hasn't been blurred enough just yet.
