I wanted a protective power strip for my new LED TV. When I saw that the Smart Strip also provided an energy saving feature I knew that I wanted to have one for my application. I have not noticed any savings in power costs, however I only use this one and I haven't had it that long. Excellent product, well thought out design, and it works just as advertised.

The Smart Strip SCG3 works exactly as advertised. I expect to save energy dollars. The one thing I did not think through and anticipate is that when I use this for my TV and surround sound it works great, but if I want to use my surround sound for a music CD or FM stations, then I need to have the TV turned on for that. Bummer! For the 85% of the time I use it for TV, it works great for me.

I purchased this product to control other devices working with a new Apple Mac mini, such as its display and several external hard disk drives. However, it is not capable of being "triggered" by the Apple Mac mini, inspite of adjusting its sensitivity control full range. I swapped it with an old RadioShack autoswitching power strip which worked fine with the Mac mini, after a small sensitivity adjustment. The Smart Strip SCG3 works fine on an older PowerMac G5, which consumes quite a bit more power, compared to the Mac mini. If your source used to trigger the Smart strip draws very little power, it may not activate the other devices you want to control with it.

This power strip is all that they say it is. With all the electronics that are in our homes today, it really pays to have our TVs and computers plugged into a few of these strips. They will pay for themselves in no time. Highly recommended.

Have tried a number of other products that all tried to do what this product succeeds at doing. No usb connection required. Also the fact that it does have connections that are constantly hot ( for TIVO, switches, etc.) is a real plus. It really works!

The unit does the job it's supposed to do. When I shut down Windows on my PC, power is automatically shut down for the cable modem and the printer. Over time, the unit will pay for itself in reduced power consumption.
