This frame has great photo quality and is very easy to use. Some reviewers complained that the word Sony at the bottom of the frame stayed illuminated. On mine it lights up when you turn it on, then goes off as the pictures start to display, so it isn't a distraction. I gave it only 4 stars because it doesn't play video. Otherwise it's a great digital photo frame, and I like it much better than the Kodak one I had previously.

Good Points: Picture quality is great. It's easy to load pictures via computer our memory card.
Bad Point: Compatability issues with pictures altered in Photoshop is a big problem.
Worst Point: The lack of "randomness" in the random mode on this frame is frustrating and ridiculous. If I have several hundred pictures loaded, why does it get stuck on a few pictures and repeat those same pictures continuously? That's pretty disappointing considering technology these days and that's not a very complex function.

I did quite a bit of online research before purchasing this frame. The thing that sold me on this versus other digital frames was that other reviewers talked about how easy it was to use. So true! I did not want to struggle with getting this to work and it really is very easy. I love the features on it, particularly the automatic rotation of the picture for the correct orientation. Picture quality is great. One feature that's particularly nice is that one of the views shows both the picture and a clock with date/time at the same time, but the date/time is when the picture was taken. This is particularly "fun" because I loaded a number of pictures from vacations and the date is a nice reminder of when the trip was taken. The only negative is that it doesn't take BMP pictures. I scanned a lot of old photos using bitmap but the frame wouldn't read them. So I had to re-scan again as JPEG. One of the reasons I bought this frame was because of the large internal memory, but I quickly realized that I would need an external card. The only thing I would do differently is buy a 9" frame rather than the 7".
Just purchased and loaded the Sony 8 inch with a couple of hundred pics. Excellent screen quality. I have loaded MANY images that have been altered (using various programs but not photoshop) and all jpegs have loaded up just fine. Not one ? symbol. Also loaded up some pics that were saved as bmps and they're up and running just fine as well. No dead pixels. The SONY logo at the bottom of the frame can be "unlit" so it really isn't very noticeable. I'm comparing this to a Kodak frame that my sister has and this one is much much sharper. Works very well in a brightly lit room. Can't get over how clear the pics are. The only down side is that the menu system isn't completely intuitive, but the directions are well written, and frankly, I don't plan on dorking with it now that I've got it set like I want. My husband loves the calendar/clock feature. Remote works very well too....and once you read what the symbols on it mean, it's intuitive. The 8 in size is really a good size too. I have it set on autofit and haven't seen a cropped off head yet! On some of the pics there will be black bars, but since the frame is black, they really blend in and are not noticeable.
I really like this photo frame I select Sony, because I was searching for product with high quality standards, and a good brand name.
This photo frame support many memories cards format BUT doesn't support USB flash memories.
I like the calendar view, it displays in half of the screen a calendar with clock, and in the other half it displays my pictures.
also the display image is prety good, and the size 7" is a good size to put the photo frame in your desk at the office.

I looked at all the frames at Frys abd Best Buy. The Sony SFrames had the deepest blacks and the whitest whites and photos really pop. Storage is plenty and file transfer and management all nicely done.
The slide show/view functions are great - clocks, calendars, when it was shot etc - but amazingly when you set it on "Random picture" and 'Random view" you see what seems like another hundred variations of layouts/calendars/scrapbook backgrounds not shown in the menu or the manual.
