I have a number of PCs running XP, Vista, 7, and linux (Ubuntu, Fedora), spread throughout 2 floors in 2500+ sq ft of walls and rooms. The actual network setup, including the wireless access/filters took under 5 minutes, and the difference in signal and speed compared to my previous two routers (Motorola 802.11g with one antenna, and an AirLink 802.11n (draft) with 3 antennas) is unbelievable. Both the signal strength and the transmittal rate are at least twice as good as before (no special antennas / boosters are used; the network cards are all low budget or built-in)!
I bought this product used on Amazon, and although the seller claimed "Open box item: like new," the product arrived very much looking used and worn out... The fact that the shipper did not even bother resetting the router password was extremely annoying, especially since it took me over 40 minutes of trying every trick in the book (short of opening up the unit and resetting the CMOS) to finally get the router to reset. Once I reset the router, everything was up and running in 5 min. (default user id/pw: admin/password). This is how I finally succeeded in resetting the unit: Turn the unit off using the off button in the back, press in the reset button and hold it, turn the unit back on while still pressing reset and hold it for exactly 10 seconds, release the reset button. I had to try this a handful of times until the unit finally started normally (the other times, it would simply freeze and had to be restarted). Other forms of reset (but just pressing w/out powering off, or by holding on to the reset button for 20 seconds, as NETGEAR suggests) did not work for me.

"Its ok but always stops transmitting signal" | 2009-10-19 |

| I have been a extreme fan of Netgear in the past and saw this well priced N router and thought can beat it. So i purchased it and on setting it up fell into a wall of trouble. I mean one thing after another. The instructions are non existent and you only get limited customer support from net gear. It works great for short periods and then sort of stops broadcasting. I think next time i will stick to Lynksys. |

"Good coverage, bandwidth, concealability. Hard setup with Cable internet." | 2009-09-28 |

I have had this router in my 2 bedroom 1000 sq ft. apartment for the past 6 months or so and it hasn't given me any problems. The only trouble I had with it was that I had a very hard time getting it to connect to the internet on my Comcast cable modem. I ended up having to do the opposite of the instructions in the box and on the CD and start the router up and then hook it up to the modem that I had just reconnected.
Ever since then however it hasn't given me any grief. The cable internet on the other hand has not been so consistent. I can't really testify to the coverage on a larger area since I don't have a larger area but it goes from one corner of my apartment to the other without any problem.
If your a hardcore gamer this might not be the router for you if you have anything higher than 16mb service to your house. For highend gaming you'de probably want to check out the gigabit ethernet version of the same. Not sure on model numbers.
I can say that I would definitely recommend this router to anyone looking for a moderately priced N router that won't be doing any hardcore gaming. |

"First Rate Customer Support" | 2009-09-13 |

| I bought this router to act as a second router (behind my cable facing router) and so wanted to set it up as a wireless access point ( a router behind another router has issues) . The documentation that came with the router was first rate. By comparison my cable facing router was DLINK which came with virtually no documentation. I needed help with one aspect of the setup , called Netgear Technical Assistance and got through in less than 5 minutes ( compare that with DLINK ). The online help person spent more than 30 minutes with me and walked me through setting up the router. I needed to call back a second time and got through again in less than 5 minutes. When that person could not solve my problem they escalated it to their Level 2 technician who called me back ( from India ) in about 30 minutes. After all was said and done they solved my problem and everywhere along the way were easy to reach and willing to work with you. I was particularly impressed that they were willing to work with me to use their router as a wireless access point ( not the usual way of using their router) and despite the fact that their router was being driven by a DLINK router. Netgear comes with 90 days of first class customer support. If that is important to you , go with NETGEAR. |

| I have benefitted from reviews others have written on products, so now that I am encouraged by Amazon to write a review, I will just say that this router has been perfect for me. I cannot talk in high tech terms about the router. My brother-in-law is quite knowledgable about computers and suggested some guidelines for buying one without suggesting this router in particular. The NETGEAR WNR2000 met all those criteria, offering a very high level of security. I may have been fortunate but my cable service provider was very willing to work with me on the phone while I hooked the router up. Hook-up went very easily, and the router has worked without a problem ever since. The reception distance is more than I need to pick up inside and outside my house. I'm completely satisfied with this buy at this point (about 3 months after hooking it up). The router stands about 7 inches tall, 5 inches deep, and about an inch and a half wide. The stand it sits in is flat on the desk (has no height to it - just a snap in to offer a broader base for standing)and is about 2.5 inches wide. |
