I bought this set as a birthday present for my 14 year old godson. I expected that it would be fun for awhile, but had no expectation that this product would work as advertised. These things rarely do. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was a lot of fun to fly and that the battles were great! We had about 10 minutes of flying time per charge, but that seemed pretty reasonable. Of course, this was with a couple of adults playing with a teenager. I think this could be frustrating for a younger child with a shorter attention span. But for an older kid (or adult "kids") this was an absolute blast. Well worth the price. The helicopters were surprisingly durable considering that we crashed them into ceilings, floors, a cat, a water dish an into an enclosed ceiling (it takes awhile to learn to control these things). With practice we were able to maneuver them pretty well, and I was surprised at how well these helicopters could be controlled. In all of that, only one tail rotor suffered any damage, and that was quickly fixed with the spares supplied with the set.
Overall, for the right people, these are a lot of fun. It takes some patience and a pretty good sense of humor to play well with these, so that should be a consideration. But I'd buy these again, and I'll certainly consider buying a different product in the same line.

This was a birthday present for my 11 yo daughter. She has really enjoyed flying them and when they crash it is just as much fun. A good intro to RC flying since crashes are to be expected and this is a fairly durable toy. A good idea to stay away from trees though because it can be a challenge to get them out of branches.

The laser helicopters are a blast for kids! The only complaint I have is that the pricetag on the box was half of what the seller sold it to me for. I was unable to contact them about this, although I tried. If the discrepency is cleared up, I would gladly purchase from this seller again.

Both helicopters had the rotors breaking within a couple of hours of play indoors, rendering them unusable. This was a gift for eleven-year olds and they didn't have time to learn to operate the toys efficiently. Not recommended.

I have mixed feelings about this product, but overall my son and I have had fun with it once we got in some practice time.
The original product I received had a defective remote and Amazon was quick to replace the entire set. The replacement product lasted a few days until one of the helis broke. The main rotor would start spinning, raise up a little from the top of the heli, and stop spinning. A phone call to the Spinmaster revealed that this was a known issue and they very promptly sent out yet another complete replacement set, but with different model helis.
This second replacement product works fine and my son has really enjoyed playing with it both by himself as well as battling with his sister or myself.
If you have a small to what I would call a normal sized room to fly in you can expect to crash a lot. The more space you have the better. In most rooms it's going to be difficult to stay in the air for any period of time before hitting something. The helis only fly forward and turn to the right, so maneuvering takes practice. Once you can master hovering in place you'll be able to stay in the air for longer periods of time.
The biggest concern I would have with the product is the durability, or lack thereof, versus the price. The first set I received was defective and the replacement set barely lasted a couple of days. The third set, which contained different models of the helis, is working fine so far. In fact, this third set of helis is much easier to fly. My guess is that either I was unlucky the first two times or there was a product improvement made somewhere along the line.
In short, when they work they're a blast to play with but durability is definitely a concern.
