I bought this for occasional blender jobs. The big one being making Hummus. I had a low priced Oster before. It required constant stopping and scraping. The Kitchenaid took one minute, no scraping, after adding all ingredients at once. I started at mix then when higher. This is one great blender, hands down. I don't know about its longevity, but I am very very happy so far!

Let's face it - EVERYONE has their own way of doing things and therefore their own needs and requirements. And when I started looking for a good, solid and POWERFUL blender, there were SO many choices and SO many good and bad reviews. I was almost afraid to buy anything.
So I just decided to go with a name that I have used and trusted for many years: KitchenAid. And when I brought it home, plugged it in and used it, I was EXTREMELY pleased with how this unit functions. Now, I use it primarily for veggie/fruit smoothies. And that includes a lot of ice. But no matter WHAT I throw in there, it turns to liquid almost immediately with the blender on the "liquid" setting...(go figure).
It has amazing power, a LARGE mixing container, great ergonomics, a rubberized non-slip handle grip... Even the lid is constructed so that it keeps itself on the container when mixing, while keeping the liquid inside if it's really full. And it pours thick liquids into storage containers extremely well with no spillage. The entire unit is very nicely designed, inside and out.
And the earlier concerns from a couple years ago about the leaking at the bottom seem to have indeed been addressed and fixed. Mine is as solid as could be where the nut is on the blade assembly.
This blender FAR exceeds my expectations for any blender costing $100.00. I can't even imagine needing to spend the HUNDREDS that I've seen mentioned elsewhere, when this one works so well. At least for MY needs it does.
Bottom line - if you're looking for a solid, good looking and very functional blender, do yourself a favor - save yourself a LOT of time and research, and try this one. You will very likely be VERY glad that you did!

For the price, this blender leaves a lot to be desired. The carafe is great and easy to clean. It has good power, but the thing that really stinks is if you make something just a little bit thick, like say mashed potatoes, it can't pull the mix down to the bottom. It makes a vacuum in the bottom of the blender and just spins around by itself. You have to open the blender and push the mixture down at least a dozen times and by that time, your mashed potatoes are glue with big chunks in them.
The same thing if you put a little too much ice into your smoothie. It can't make a drink the consistency of a slurpie without constant pushing of the mixture to the bottom. All the other blenders I had could do this, not this one. My next blender will be a Vitamix. This one isn't worth the price and the fact it can't handle much at all without you pushing the mixture down so many times is really infuriating. You would think Kitchen Aide could do better.

The KitchenAid blender is all and more than I anticipated. It is powerful, fast and the settings precise. I'm looking forward to using the ice crushing ability this summer. (This winter's snow and ice kept me from thinking about this element.) However, the blender was helpful in making some good hearty soups this winter. By blending some of the soup with vegetables then returning it to the pot of soup makes a thicker consistency without additional thickening agents.
This blender is a helpful, useful addition to my kitchen appliances and with a notable ease of cleaning makes it most desirable to use.
All of us who are trying to eat healthy, nutritional, weight lowering (avoid the word d---) would find this blender to be extremely helpful in reaching this goal by assisting in preparing innumerable delicious recipes.

I have now used the KitchenAid KSB560OB 5-Speed blender over 30 days now and I mean everyday for over 30 days. Some days I have even used it more than once. I LOVE THIS BLENDER. . . IT IS A WORK HORSE.

I have also followed the direction for cleaning this Blender, and it's a breeze! After 30 days of use it still looks like new.

Yes, I would buy this blender again!
