This manual is a bit pricey, but is worth it's weight in gold... well, almost. The in-depth breakdown of content and excellent index are very useful as well. Definitely get with at least a month before the exam and dedicate an evening or two to looking it over. It would prove to be beneficial to having it with enough time to tab and get familiar with the content.

There is no way you will ever learn everything you need to know for the PE. (Sorry to break it to you.) What makes this great a must-have for the exam is that it has 95% of what you might need to know and a great index. I was able to answer a few questions by simply looking up the index for definitions and formulas. I don't recommend using this as a textbook to learn new material, but really as a reference.

I think I wrote about this book in the practice problems review. So basically any edition from 7-11 is the same minus a new construction section, i think.

The book is a very useful tool for reviewing for the PE and works well as an engineering reference. Be careful although, the book I received from Amazon.com did not have an entire index, and Amazon told me to deal with the publisher (who in turn told me to deal with Amazon). I recommend buying the book directly from PPI instead of Amazon.com; it will save you time and money.
