This is nice flatware but it is NOT made in Germany by the Zwilling/Henckels company. It is made in CHINA. Nowhere in the listing(s) for this flatware is that fact mentioned. It is very pointedly marketed as a Zwilling/J.A. Henckels product, and I spent quite a while reading the listings before deciding to purchase it. I bought it for my two sons and their wives. My sons' father is from Germany and we wanted to give them something that had special meaning and a connection to their heritage. What better than "Heritage Zwilling" flatware from Germany? I ordered and waited with great excitement for the flatware to arrive. I told my husband and sons about the special flatware I had ordered. (We had all visited the Zwilling/Henckels factory on a visit with family in Germany). The flatware finally arrived. I can't even describe my disappointment and disgust at discovering that it was not made in Germany, nor even the US---it was Made in China. I could have bought any of a thousand kinds of flatware Made in China at any chain department or discount store. The flatware is nice, but not ESPECIALLY nice, and it has absolutely no special meaning whatsoever to us. Had I known it was Made in China I would never have bought it. I would have stuck with Oneida. BE WARNED!! This "Zwilling/J.A. Henckels" flatware is MADE IN CHINA !!!!!
We could not be more pleased with the Vintage 1876 flatware - after receiving one set for a gift - I ordered 3 more sets in order to have enough flatware for when Holiday family arrive. It looks great on the table. I have antique coin silver flatware - and this looks just as antique but can be washed in the dishwasher and does not spot. The knives are particularly well done - very balanced and very sharp. I could not be more pleased with the service from Amazon and Henckels and also the product.
I ordered the Zwilling J.A. Henckels Flatward Set because every time I reached for a dinner fork, I would inevitably grab a tiny light weight fork. I love the weight of the Henckels flatware. I'm a grown man and when I eat dinner I want a man fork. This certainly fits the bill. It is also an attractive utencil with a high gloss and great design. I wish I had ordered several sets and I may order more. I love this product!
I have been searching for the perfect flatware set for years. I've shopped Crate and Barrel, Williams Sonoma, Macy's, Pottery Barn, etc. This set is perfect. The style is timeless and goes with so many different looks. At 14.75 a place setting it is a tremendous value. Williams Sonoma's least expensive place setting is $28 and doesn't hold a candle to this set. Quality is A+++. I've had this set for a year and we use it every day as well as special occasions. It works with our fine china and seamlessly blends with my eclectic mix of dishware. This shine is impressive. Every time I open my silverware drawer I smile. Doesn't matter if you hand wash or put in the dishwasher - the pieces hold up beautifully. In my research I have read the knife blades on many different high quality brands don't hold up and start to rust. Not this set! I can tell we will use this for many years to come.
The pieces are balanced and sit comfortably within your hand. They are heavy - but not too heavy. The spoons are so sturdy as other reviews have noted. My husband is a quality snob. And even he, the toughest critic, is pleased. It is honestly a delight to eat using this set.
I ordered the service for 4 with the bonus hostess set - and ordered another service for 8 to get more serving pieces. The value just gets better and better..... J

This set is extremely well design. The material's used to make this set, i was amazed. The butter knife cuts sharp to be a butter knife. I cut my steak with it, just to see if it will cut it. It did. The spoon, i scooped frozen ice cream without the spoon bending. How many of us bent a spoon trying to scoop ice cream! This spoon is really strong. Also it comes with a big/small variety. 2 size spoons, and 2 size fork sets. The color on these spoons bling like a rap video! I had this set for 4 months, and the shine is still there so far. You receive 1 vintage set with this set also, I rarely use it, it looks so good, and weird looking at the vintage knife and spoon. The spoon is large, I'm black so i can say this. The spoon looks like an old slave spoon. U know, the really big spoon to eat with. But it looks cool, like a spoon for Goliath or something. This set makes a great set, Classy design!
I've been looking to add some flatware to my older collection but couldn't find anything that seemed to as well built. i started looking into the $200 sets but just couldn't bring myself to spend this much.
After reading some of the reviews i decided to see how well these held up. I was very surprised and thrilled. even though the knife handles are hollow, they have a nice weight and i wouldn't be afraid to pry out some ice cream with the spoons.
100% would buy these again and would recommend them to anyone looking for a very nice set of flatware. you'd be hard pressed to find a better set at twice this price.
