Product was lost through Fed ex!!! Until Fed ex admitted total lost could Amazon send replacement. Amazon did replace it 7 days to my door ...(total 41 days to my door). As for the Dyson DC25 animal.... It drives like an italian sports car and sucks like a ***** in heat and absolutely no exhaust filth. I love this expensive product.
"Great Design but the cord is too short"

We purchased the Dyson Animal 25 about six weeks ago and the ball design is fantastic. It truly makes vacuuming easy enough that our kids want to do it. (total bonus) It maintains suction as advertised and does really well at getting suction to baseboards and in corners. Overall this is a greaty vacuum and worth the price but the one major issue that they need to address is the cord length. It needs to be about 15 feet longer. I realize that they were trying to keep weight to a minimum but how much does another 15 feet of cord weigh?

I traded in a cheaper Dirt Devil vac for the Dyson DC25 and I couldn't be happier. Yes, it was more money but you get what you pay for and I paid for clean rugs that look new- despite them being 12 years old! I have two cats and three levels of carpets that look fabulous! I agree with those that said it was annoying to have to empty the bin- but it was easy enough so the annoyance level in my opinion was minimal.
I did a lot of research before selecting this vacuum and I'm not sorry for what I paid for it. I would've done it sooner if I knew my carpets would look as fantastic as they do now.
So if you can afford it- buy this vacuum. Your carpets will thank you.

Please do not waste your money on the name of this product! Just because some handsome foreigner comes on your television screen to tell you how dramatically engineered this machine is, that is no reason to be swept up (which the product does not do) and sucked into (the vacuum doesn't do that either) his salesmanship.
I bought the DC 25 in January, 2009. By March, 2009, I was ready to have the blasted thing carted away from my home by the garbage men. The only thing that kept it from the dump was that my college-age son had no vacuum at all and appreciated a machine that would at least pick up his roommate's sandwich scraps.
My housekeeper was the first to let me know what a cheap piece of machinery this was. She liked the way it crept around corners, but she did not like its LACK OF SUCTION. She said she had to go over spaces on the floor several more time than she had to with my Hoover that she used previously on her visits. I vacuumed the carpet twice, perhaps four times, between her twice monthly visits. With the Dyson, she noticed a remarkable lack of care.
One thing I noticed was the lack of ability to "fluff" my carpet back up. My Hoover used to make my carpets look all new and fresh. The Dyson keeps my carpet looking beat down and dirty. Especially since I have pets, this is an important thing for me. I do not want to feel like I need to replace my carpeting before it is time to do so. My carpeting has a 15 year limited warranty. It has barely been nine years, and since I have been using the Dyson for the last 9 months, it looks terribly worse. Also, I find the fact that it does not have "headlights" a discouraging point. I have to turn every lamp and light on in every room to see what I am doing while I vacuum with the Dyson. They are cheap in this matter.
I know this review is getting very long, but there is one more important factor I must share with you.
I have a home carpet cleaner. It is also a Hoover product. I try to clean each carpeted room on a regular basis. Since I have purchased the Dyson, I find that my carpet cleaner is filled with much more dog hair and soot than it used to have. This tells me the Dyson vacuum is not picking up the dirt it claims to.
Don't waste your money. Go back to what you trust for half the price.

This vacuum is fantastic! It it is a bit expensive but, it's worth it. The attached hose thing is a bit tricky at first but, you'll get used to it.
I have never owned a "luxury" vacuum before. I had been coveting the Dyson for a long time. This one seems to be made for me.
I had recently had new carpets installed, and my old vaccum was not up to the task. The rugs kept shedding and shedding because the vacuum just wasn't picking up the excess yarn.
The first time I used my Dyson DC25 Animal, I had to empty the canister literally every room (and I had vacuumed using an inexpensive Hoover vacuum about three days earlier). There were entire cats in that canister. It is so oddly satisfying SEEING the junk in your carpet in a clear canister rather than having it all hidden away in a bag, where one can only wonder what disgustingness might have lurked.
So, yeah, it took care of the cat hair and the shedding carpet. And it's lightweight and very manueverable: the ball means that you can turn it any which way you want while you're pushing this thing around. It's a very neat feature.
Then comes the coolest part for me: it's certified asthma-friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. I'm lucky enough to be blessed with both asthma and allergies, and vacuuming has been a particular nightmare this allergy season. It has always seemed that my vacuums kicked up more stuff than they took care of. Not so with the Dyson, which has a lifetime HEPA filer that traps allergens.
The wand attachment is built right into the handle-- you just open a cap on top and the wand extends out from there. Very simple.
There are no bags to worry about, and it's easy to empty and put back together. The handle is ergonomic, and there's no need to change settings when switching from bare floors to carpet. The machine just knows.
Also, it's freakin' purple.
There are three details I'd love to see improved: 1. a larger canister, 2. a little more room to maneuver the wand-- it's kind of awkward as is, and 3. a retractable cord. All corded things in life should have retractable cords. Cords are very cordy.
Even soulmates, however, are not expected to be perfect. My love for my Dyson is unconditional and everlasting. I (heart) U, DC25 Animal.
