I picked up some of these eneloop rechargeable batteries before a trip overseas. They worked very well. While others had to change their camera batteries throughout the day, I never did. And each night, I just had to plug the USB charger into my netbook. Since my netbook can handle different voltages, I only needed a plug adapter instead of having to worry about having a power converter. It definitely simplified things, both for charging and for daily usage.

You can get a thousand charges out of a good Eneloop, but every Eneloop behaves differently. Some need to be tossed right away, others might be great. You might want to mark your Eneloops so you know what you have (okay ones to great ones). But we would still buy Eneloop rechargeables versus other brands.

I love the fact that they come precharged, although it will vary on how much of a charge they come with. Sometimes they come with a great amount of charge, and sometimes, they're only charged about 50%. At any rate, I think these are the best batteries because I have a lot of electronic gear, but I don't use them everyday, so having batteries that have a slow discharge is a huge advantage. I have 5 flash lights, a Wii, a PS3, 3 remote controls, etc so I would have to buy batteries all the time because I would only use some of the things a couple times a month. I've had Eneloops for almost 6 months and they've been great!

I've been using rechargeable batteries for most of my battery needs (primarily remote controls) for five years now. Previously I was using the Sony units, which worked all right, but seemed to go from "fully charged" to "too weak to actually register a button-press" in just a few weeks. I'd really rather recharge my remote control batteries every...oh...month or two if possible, but that just wouldn't work with the older technology.

Eneloops are different. While they may not have as much peak capacity (so might not be great for digital cameras, for example), they HOLD THEIR CHARGE for a long time, and are MUCH better for remote controls and other items that use little power over a long time. I have actually been testing the Eneloops against my previous Sony batteries (still using the old Sony charger, which is a nice unit) and can always tell when a remote isn't using Eneloops -- it craps out much faster, and when it craps out, it's dramatic versus the slow fade of the Eneloop.

So anyway -- if you're using these for remote controls, DEFINITELY get them. They are very much worth it.

These batteries are ESSENTIAL in the world of rechargeables. I am a photographer who goes through bursts of using the batteries for different durations of time. Sometimes I do not know if I used some or a lot of the power and if I don't get around to charging, I risk them being empty. With Eneloop batteries, it is never a second thought if I should charge them. They don't lose juice! if they do, it is so minimal.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I use Sony Eneloop AA batteries in my digital camera. They are not discharged when I need the camera like normal NiMh batteries usually are. I bought the charter/battery set for travel. I get several hundred shots and the other batteries are on charge in the hotel.
The newer NC-MQN06 model charger is different from the earlier units. It runs on 100 to 240 Volts and charges batteries in pairs. The original charger sold with these batteries ran on only 120V but could charge individual batteries. Be sure to check which charger you are getting if you want 220V operation!
