| A complete disaster of a product. No current support from DLink for this product and installation on XP SP3 was a nightmare. It does not work. It is no wonder many of the major online merchants do not stock it anymore ( i think it will soon be a discontinued product). I wasted my money on it. I am researching the similar ZOOM voip adaptor to replace the piece of useless plastic i just bought! |

"Great product but very very poor driver and software" | 2009-10-04 |

this product works great but not with its coming or new driver but with the au-600 adapter v1.4 driver as both use the same chip.
It was a waste of time and effort when i tried its driver as it usually crashes and is completely unstabel and the company seems not to support this device with any new drivers or software (although i see this device very demanded and with ggod price!!!?).
when i searched the interned i came up with the AU-600 1.4 driver that works great with it but the tollbypass option (enables u to remotlly use your skype account or PSTN line) is not working smoothy and i fedup with it so i didn't try anymore and rather used the call forwarding option.
finally i didn't have other issue as the sound quality is great and the device works fine with the AU-600 driver.
Hope that review made evrything clear. |

"Never turned on" | 2009-10-02 |

| I read the other reviews and was annoyed to find that the one I ordered from Bestbuy (Sept. 2009) was the first version of the hardware with the first version of the software. When plugged in, it never turned on. If you buy this and intent to use it on any modern computer, make sure it is NOT H/W version A1 before buying. Later versions of this might have worked, but this one never even lit up. Beware! |

I just bought a DPH-50U and came across the same tlinkagent problem. I tried 3 different drivers (the latest DLink, USRobotics, and AU600). All of them had the same problem with tlinkagent running in the taskbar with no way to get rid of it. I settled on the AU600 drivers, btw, since they seemed to be the most up to date--compatible with vista, the latest version of skype, and had the call recording feature.
Anyway, after a couple nights of trying every solution I could find posted, nothing worked. I decided I would just have to deal with that stupid thing running down there from now on. But no! I just couldn't stand it! So here's the workaround I found, which so far works perfectly.
It's actually a really simple, really small, and really free program called trayIt! [...]
I know it sucks to have to have yet ANOTHER program running to get this all working, but the thing only takes like a MB of RAM to run and you can make it completely hidden... it should be totally unnoticeable.
So download trayIt! from the URL above, extract it to, say, "C:\Program Files\TrayIt" and run TrayIt!.exe. It should give you a list of what you have running on the taskbar. Right click that annoying tlinkagent program and check "Place In System Tray". Right click it again and click "Edit Profile". On the Basic tab, place a check on "Match pattern below..." and "Minimize window on creation...". On the More tab, place a check on "Hide application from the taskbar all the time...". On the Advanced tab, place a check on "Do not create Tray Icon - minimize and hide window completely". Click OK and voila! It's gone! You should also go to Edit->Options in TrayIt! and set it to always start minimized and to load at startup. You can even uncheck "Create Tray Icon" so that TrayIt! is completely hidden as well. Minimize TrayIt and you should be done.
Love the DPH-50U, but MAN did it take some doing to get setup. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that is unsure of their computer skills.

| This doesn't work with 64 bit operating system. I had to use my old 32 bit computer. Installation cd has old version, which doesn't work with an answering machine, so I had to download a new version from D-link web site. Although I had hard time to install properly, it works good. |
