An advanced touch screen phone with premium multimedia features and full web browsing capabilities, the Samsung Behold phone also supports T-Mobile's HSDPA 3G network (in select markets), which provides fast web downloads and multimedia messaging. It will also keep you connected to your closest friends and family members with T-Mobiles myFaves.

This touchscreen-enabled phone has a large, brightly colorful 3.1 inch screen, and it includes Samsung's intuitive and easily customizable TouchWiz user interface. And you'll enjoy high-resolution photos and videos thanks to the built-in 5-megapixel camera/camcorder with flash and autofocus. Other features include Bluetooth connectivity for both handsfree devices and stereo music streaming, MicroSD memory expansion (up to 16 GB), digital audio player and FM radio, access to personal email and instant messaging, and up to 5 hours of talk time.

The Behold enables fully colorful web browsing and multimedia on its 3.1-inch touchscreen display.T-Mobile Service
The Behold operates on GSM 850/900/1800/1900 networks and is compatible with T-Mobile's UMTS/HSDPA 3G network, which operates on the 1700/2100 MHz AWS spectrum. This phone is designed to automatically connect to the best available network (3G or GSM/GPRS/EDGE) to provide faster data speeds when accessing the Web or downloading content from the T-Mobile t-zones content portal. T-Mobile is currently rolling out its 3G network, and it expects by year's end that its high-speed data network will be available in those cities where a majority of its subscribers currently use data services.

In areas where the 3G network is not available, you'll continue to receive service on the via T-Mobile's EDGE network (which stands for "Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution"). This high-speed, mobile data and Internet access technology is fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services (with average data speeds between 75-135Kbps), including full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and email on the go.

While this phone is optimized for use with T-Mobile’s high-speed 3G network, many of its functions will also work well on the moderate-speed EDGE network. If you plan to access the Internet extensively on your phone, 3G network coverage may serve you best.

Activities that work well on EDGE or 3G networks:
  • Email, instant messaging, and texting
  • Downloading ringtones, CallerTunes, wallpaper, light data files
  • Sending photographs via e-mail or picture messaging
Activities that work best on a 3G network:
  • Viewing content-heavy websites (lots of images or videos playing)
  • Viewing YouTube and other video files (they will play on EDGE, but require loading time)
  • Uploading large files (photos, videos, presentations) to sharing websites
  • Downloading large files from an e-mail or a website

Call your favorite people with T-Mobile's myFaves service, which allows you to call up to five of your most common contacts--on any network, even landlines--without using any of your minutes. You'll also get free domestic long distance and no digital roaming charges anywhere across the US on all calls. (All myFaves plans require a two-year contract.) Learn more about myFaves from T-Mobile.

Download cool new games, HiFi Ringers (real songs by today's hottest artists), MegaTones (instrumental versions of songs), and wallpapers quickly, as well as stay connected via the Web, instant messaging, and email.

Here is what people are saying about the Samsung Behold t919 Phone, Brushed Espresso (T-Mobile)
4 Star Rating  "Just OK phone"2009-11-03
- Reviewed By User: A1KLGEQ19L5S94
I bought this phone for my wife. The phone itself is OK, nice looks, feels sturdy/solid, and responsive touch screen. The features of the camera is great! it has panoramic shot that I really love to use. however, the picture quality is not that good even though it's a 5MP camera. But nevertheless, I enjoyed using the camera. I only gave 4 stars because the functions in the fone are too limited, and there are no downloadable apps that you can readily install and use.

5 Star Rating  "THE GOOD THINGS IN LIFE"2009-09-24

Samsung Behold is definitely one of the Good Things In Life. Excellent size, feel, sound! LOVE THE TOUCHSCREEN. Becoming accustomed to the touchscreen is quick and easy! You'll wonder why they didn't invent this sooner. Silicone casing and screen protector (extras) are absolute necessity if you are carrying the phone with you at all times. CAMERA is AWESOME! With 5.0 megapixels you can't miss. Download is a bit tricky - had to Google information - Manual did not give enough info. The side charging proponent is a bit tricky - small and inconvenient. Bottom charging with a "charging station" would make this a 100% deal.

Overall the phone is a 98% slamdunk!

5 Star Rating  "A great phone with many extras"2009-09-01

I upgraded from this phone from a Sidekick bought in 2005. The behold has been great and I have been very happy with it. I have had some reception problems in my apt with it, but in other places, no problem. The camera is very good and the editing options are pretty impressive. I took some amazing pictures at an aquarium, all of which turned out crisp and beautiful.
One of the best features of this phone is the touch screen qwerty touch keyboard.
I would recommend this phone, although I would not pay $400 for it because that is a crazy amount of money.

5 Star Rating  "perfect phone for me touch screen, music player,5 mp camera, realiable"2009-08-07
- Reviewed By User: A16FSP48RMDGVL
Ive had this phone since way back when it cost $200 in jan, feb. First and foremost the phone is light, the menus look polished, touchscreen is responsive and quick. The camera is 5 MP with flash which is top of the line and camcorder also is really good no blur u can record as long as u want basicly as long as ur sd card has space i got 700 + songs, couple videos,50+ photos still half empty sd card. My fav part of this phone is the music player, takes up to 8MB SDHC card plays all my 700 songs with ease and you dont need headphones listen from speakers which is lovely for work so u dont look like ur not working. If someone calls the music stops and call comes in perfect after u hang up the music continues where u left off also plays in the background so u can send a text for example.

The internet i havent used much but it works fine. this phone also wakes itself up for the alarm and alarm goes off nice and loud even when phone is in silent mode. like an iphone if u are viewing a pic and flip the phone around the photo will also flip to how ur holding the phone. if ur talking and backlight is off when u take the phone off ur ear backlight comes back on(how does it know ?) i might have to buy a backup phone just to make sure i get another one before it gets discountinued the phone is that good. you cant go wrong A+ all the way

This is my first touch screen phone and i absolutely loved it. The touch response is great, calling, texting and navigating is a breeze. The camera quality is fine, not an 8.0 but some pictures come out great. This is definitely the favorite phone ive ever had. : )

3 Star Rating  "If T-Mobile weren't limiting the phone so much it would probably get at least a 4 star rating..."2009-06-10
- Reviewed By tjsalis
Normally, I only review things I really love, but I felt so disappointed in this phone/T-Mobile regarding this phone, I feel prospective buyers may want to know this stuff. I wish I would've.

PROS:

1). The phone looks/feels snazzy and I didn't have many issues with the actual touch screen, like a lot of people seem to claim they do. I thought it was perfectly operational and I preferred the touch screen Qwerty keyboard to that of the iPhone, just for the record. Samsung makes good, sturdy, straightforward products, which I enjoy.

2). The 5 megapixel camera. Although sometimes switching settings could be a pain, when you want to take a fast night shot or something, but that would probably be the case with most phones/cameras. However, the pictures come out great!

3). It reads up to a 16GB MicroSD card, which is nice for storing those 5 megapixel pictures, along with enough space to store music that'd last you a few days, if you were to listen to it straight through.

4). You can play videos, although it took me awhile to find the exact resolution, file type and size to get it to play and look/sound decent.

5). Phone call quality is very good.

CONS:

1). T-Mobiles coverage/service, how they limit the phone (from 3rd party applications, such as google maps), they don't allow tethering (using your phone as a modem for your laptop when you aren't around WiFi) and how they really don't ever solve anything for you when you call to get something fixed--at least not with this phone. To their credit, after talking to 3 different people (all of whom had to be told every issue I had with the phone at least twice), I was able to get them to cancel my service early for $50 instead of $200. And also, I never had many issues with T-Mobile before "upgrading" to this phone, to be fair.

2). The GPS! The main reason I bought this phone was for the GPS. They offer it on this phone through Telenav for an additional $9.99/mo and it worked for me maybe a total of 4 times in the 7 months I had this phone. I called many times to see about getting it fixed, they all told me to do the same things and basically came to the conclusion that "it is not very user friendly unless you are in a bigger city". There was silence on the other end of the line when I said, "I live in Boston." I also tried it on many visits to Manhattan, THE big city, just to see if it would work and the same thing would happen: it froze at 96 percent and then gave the error, "need better sky view." When I took the issue to Telenav's customer service, they were at least honest and said, "it just doesn't work well with that phone." Go figure. Then why offer it with the phone?

3). The web! I was expecting to get a full HTML browser because that is what they say this has, but it actually does not. I don't even know what you would call what it has. However, since the GPS was not reliable, I soon realized that I could go to mobile MapQuest to at least get out of being lost, or find my way somewhere in a pinch--just with directions though, no map. That is, if the 3G network would actually work!

4). The 3G network! Really, I got "cannot connect to server," or some kind of error like that almost 3 times daily. When you pay extra for the internet and the phone is not capable of connecting to existing WiFi connections, that is not something you want to have happen that often.

5).The internal email client. I set up my gmail account on there and it would rarely connect. Also, if you read a full message, or send an email message from your phone, it uses megabytes from your data plan, which is just lame.

6). Not entirely sure what this was about, more T-Mobile than the phone, but it was so frustrating! My mom, who was one of "my faves" couldn't call me. For about 3 months she would get a "not a working number" message when she would try to call me. I spent HOURS on the phone with T-Mobile trying to figure this out and they kept trying to blame it on my mom's carrier, but she used a land line and she could call my sister, who also had T-Mobile!? Very strange.

To wrap this up, the phone itself is not a bad phone, but I think paired with T-Mobile it isn't the best duo. Especially when you go to message boards for the phone and people in other countries, who have this phone with a different carrier, can do all sorts of awesome things with it. I guess all American carriers limit their phones, I am sure it has to do with investors/advertisers who pay to have their products used on the phone, but since switching to Verizon, I can say there are at least alternatives for the 3rd party applications they don't allow.

I hope this wasn't too rant-y. I tried to be as fair as possible.
