"high quality, but did not help my Guitar Rig 3 problems."

I had high hopes for the Lightsnake. But, it gave no improvement in speed or functionality versus simply plugging in a guitar cord with a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter into the "line in" jack on my computer. I was using Guitar Rig 3, and the processing power to deal with the digital signal with ASIO4ALL gave actually LESS performance (meaning more glitches, dropsouts) than the straight analog pathway.
Yes, the blinking light is kinda cool, but only for a few minutes. Better to sound good, than look cool. All bling and no talent is someone we call a poseur.
I guess if someone didn't have an input jack for an analog signal, or if it was inconvenient to plug something in the back of the computer (with USB in front), the Lightsnake would be the only way to get the signal into the computer.
The customer service was fast to respond with some ideas to help, and others have had similar glitches posted on the active company forum. After a phone call to customer service, they forwarded a weblink to help with Guitar Rig 3 processing.
It helped me "idealize" my ASIO4ALL setup, but did not help with the glitches in Guitar Rig 3, which has more to do with my audio card, and no fault of the Lightsnake. Just be warned, though, that buying the Lightsnake to "cure" some problem will probably end in frustration.
Cheers,
Doc

"Noisy"

I got the LightSnake so I could record my keyboard into my computer. I got it to work fairly quickly with Adobe Audition, but found anything I recorded had a LOT of noise behind it...Well, at least too much noise for me. LightSnake blows.
"Exactly what it is supposed to be"

If you are even the least bit tech savvy, setting up the hardware using ASIO4ALL drivers will be a breeze. The cord works exactly as it is supposed to, and using a low buffer and the ASIO drivers latency is so low I can't tell a difference. I have success in reocrding using ACID Pro and all of the Cakewalk products, including SONAR Home Studio. Guitar Rig 3 and Amplitude 2 work as well, with no problems whatsoever. The sound quality is nothing amazing, but is better than you'd expect from 40 bucks of cable.
The build of the hardware is amazing, you could go gigging with this with absolute confidence.
The green lights are also awesome.
Definite recommend- just invest 10 minutes into getting the cable working.
"Makes a hissing sound"

i dont know if its just mine or not, but i bought mine at target a while ago and now its far too late to return it. basically what it does is make a staticky phasing type hiss sound whenever its running. so this totally destroys any use for it really as far as im cncerned, since there is no way to eliminate the stupid buzz out of anything i have recorded with it.
This product does exactly as it says and works great! I tried it going from my iPod to GarageBand so that I could back up two songs I had purchased but lost from my iTunes Library. Had no issues doing that. Very easy...user friendly. Good price too!
