My wife and I looked at camcorders that were in our price range with the options we needed, very confusing with so many options and features for current camcorders, so after many hours of research on camcorders, I narrowed our needs to a Sony DCR-SR47 with a 60 GB HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and a 60X Optical Zoom and optional memory stick, with a price we could live with. The Sony DCR-SR47 is small in hand and could easily fit in a large pocket, purchased from Amazon.com standard shipping, shipping was on the slow side,after reading the manual a few times, not to difficult to set up, and start taking movies and pictures right out of the box. Setup with the DMP program for our computer was very quick. This Sony camcorder is a very good value. for a camcorder with all the features that will not strain you wallet.

Movies play on other media players but on Windows Media Player there is no sound. I called Sony and they said that it was "Microsoft's problem", but I disagree, it is their CUSTOMER'S PROBLEM and they refused to help. Stay clear of this quirky pos.

The camera is great and the coolest feature is the zoom. You can zoom miles ahead of you. The price is nominal with most customers able to purchase it. The camera just fits your palm and is easy to use.

this camcorder is easy to use and adaptable for any age group only problem is they donot provide night mode of shooting using infrared technology which is unique to sony products.
