Unit has basic functions and can read and delete codes and can save them if batteries are installed but does work without the batteries. USB port is useless since no drivers are available yet. Well built; rugged enough for rattling around the toolbox.

I bought this reader for my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee which just had the check engine light come on. Now, you actually don't need a code reader for most Chrysler products since you can get the codes by turning the key three times, which makes the codes display on the dash. But you can't erase them without disconnecting the battery which isn't the best way either.

The reader actually gave me an "error" on the first try, but I went through the procedure a second time and it read the codes perfectly, and actually showed a second code that my above mentioned process did not show. I erased the codes and all of the other settings were retained. It did everything I needed it to do. I sweated out which OBD II to buy and debated buying a much more expensive version, but this version did everything I needed.

I wanted a simple, inexpensive code reader, and the PocketScan itself is a great solution. Works as advertised, relatively easy to use, helped me diagnose and reset my check engine light. BUT, one of the reasons I picked this product over several other, less expensive readers was the promise of Actron's website for looking up more detail on the codes. Well, what they DON'T tell you is that you only get five free lookups, then you have to pay a monthly subscription for more! I don't mind that, but they should say so up front. Then, when I registered on the website for my free lookups, it didn't work. I complained to customer service, and they manually set me up on a completely different website. So if the code lookup website is important to you, don't be taken in by a marketing promise. Finally, I have yet to find any place on Actron's website that includes the promised updates that you can download to the code reader itself. Might be another empty promise.

The code reader was very easy to use. I was able to read the code within seconds and erase easily. I would recommend to anyone, especially women, and it works on most cars.

The Code Reader seems to work pretty good and has served me well. The one complaint I do have is that the instructions lack some detail.

I purchased the Actron CP9410 looking for something to tell me why there was an intermitant check enging light displaying on my 98 Pontiac GTP. I considered several units but selected this unit because of Price, Simplicity, and it was a little more upscale than some of the very inexpensive units. When connected it immediately told me my problem. I then tried it on my 99 Chevy Silverado, as expected no problems and that what the unit showed. Lastly I tried it on a 2002 Thunderbird. It came up with a Data Error and would not read the ODB. I was a little upset and contacted Actrom by email explaining the problem. The next morning a tech sent me a note with a couple of things to test. As it turned out there was a bad fuse in the ODB circuit and with their technical support I was able to correct the problem. I would give them 10 stars for the prompt response to my problem and their great technical support. The CP9410 is just a basic scanner so it will not go into some of the detail of the higher dollar units, but it did do exactly what I expected, and the technical support was a plesant supprise.
