AT&T Service
This AT&T phone can handle high-speed data connectivity via AT&T's 3G mobile broadband data network, which is available in most major metropolitan areas. The AT&T 3G network uses the dual-band 850/1900 MHz 3G network (UMTS/HSDPA), which provides download speeds ranging from 700 Kbps to 1.7 Mbps, and upload speeds ranging from 500 Kbps to 1.2 Mbps. This makes it possible to enjoy a variety of feature-rich wireless multimedia services, and it gives you the advantage of offering simultaneous voice and data services.

In areas where the 3G network is not available, you'll continue to receive service on the AT&T EDGE network, which offers availability in more than 13,000 US cities and along some 40,000 miles of major highways. Providing average data speeds between 75-135Kbps, it's fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services, including video and music clips, full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and email on the go. You'll also enjoy quad-band GSM connectivity, which allows you to make calls in more than 190 countries and access data applications in the more than 135 countries where AT&T offers international data roaming.

With 3G connectivity, you'll be able to access AT&T's Video Share service, which enables you to send a live, one-way video stream to another compatible phone during a standard voice call. The service also allows you to switch the direction of the video stream during the same phone call. (Customers must be in an area served by the company's 3G network and have a Video Share-enabled phone.) While using Video Share with family and friends is a fun way to communicate, it's also very useful for business. For example, a majority of users in the architecture, engineering and construction industries rated the ability to share live video through Video Share highly, according to research commissioned by AT&T. Video Share lets you see progress on a job site or review the day's work without having to drive from an office or other site to do so.

...and a smooth, slide-out full QWERTY keyboard for easy text messaging and writing longer emails. You can take advantage of the AT&T Navigator GPS software and service, a full-featured premium navigation application that includes audible turn-by-turn directions, real-time traffic updates and re-routing options, and 3D moving maps (additional charges applicable). AT&T Navigator offers several other features to make your commute more enjoyable and reliable, including mobile access to Yellowpages.com. Additionally, AT&T Navigator is the only mobile phone-based GPS service that provides integrated speech recognition for address entry and points of interest search.

With 3G connectivity, you'll be able to access AT&T's Cellular Video (CV) service and the Internet while on the go. Cellular Video features content from CNN, The Weather Channel, iFilm, Comedy Central and exclusive premium content from HBO and much more. And you get access to AT&T Mobile Music, which enables you to buy tracks while on the, access the Napster and eMusic subscription music services, stream music video, discover what's playing with Music ID song-recognition software, and find out what's hot with The Buzz music news portal.

The phone has a built-in web browser for MEdia Net downloads and mobile web browsing. AT&T's MEdia Net service enables you to receive and send emails, read news headlines, get weather updates, download games and ringtones, and more.

It's also pre-loaded with AT&T's Mobile Banking application, which is compatible with accounts from banks including Wachovia, SunTrust, Synovus, and BancorpSouth. Mobile Banking from AT&T affords you the flexibility to stay on top of your banking needs while you're on the move, enabling you to check your account balance, securely transfer funds between your eligible accounts, view and pay bills, and review your transaction history. AT&T customers pay no additional fee to access mobile banking and, because the application resides on the handset, the service is optimized to reduce the number of new page views necessary to complete a transaction. Minimal data usage charges apply and vary based on individual use.

Here is what people are saying about the LG Xenon (AT&T) (Blue)
2 Star Rating  "A decent phone, but a bad SMS choice"2009-10-06
- Reviewed By jonmac@gte.net
The phone itself is pretty good, although the touch screen locks up on me. I am only able to unlock it by opening (or closing) the keyboard and re-closing (or re-opening) it. Quite a pain when you're in a hurry. There is also a noticeable lack of security on this phone as well. Your choices are pretty much "don't lock it" or "lock every time I try to do anything". But the worst thing about the phone is keyboard itself. The keys are way too small for anyone to realistically use, except someone with fingers as thin as pencils. If you press the letter A a little too hard, the email application opens due to the proximity of the email button. Same thing with the letter Z, only that launches the Internet browser. Other keyboard complaints include having to turn shift on and off after each capital letter. It only works as "Caps Lock" instead of "Shift". And the same thing goes for the Function key. You have to turn it off and on. It slows everything way down to the point of not really being worth using cases, and making it easier to type "eleven" instead of "11".

On the positive side, battery life is pretty good, and the camera is decent, although only 2 mega pixels. Video recording is decent as well.

My suggestion boils down to spending more money and buying the Samsung Impression, or spending less money and buying the LG Neon. Both have great keyboards, but the Neon's touch screen is only for dialing the phone. Everything else is done by buttons. This is a great phone, but it lacks the security required for a business environment. The Impression is definitely the leader of the pack with the great keyboard and the best touch screen out there!

1 Star Rating  "Can't sync with outlook"2009-09-22
- Reviewed By prasjain
Its 2009 and what LG calls as smart phone can't sync with outlook. My Nokia phone in 2000 could sync with outlook.
After buying data cable and software, I realized that LG doesn't support Xenon for outlook sync. I have wasted multiple hours on internet to find that despite all the workarounds posted you can't really sync the phone with outlook. Mine is going back.

BTW other than that:
Battery life is miserable.
Touch is un predictable
Phone hangs every now and then..

5 Star Rating  "LG Xenon - Touchscreen - Texting - More..."2009-08-24
- Reviewed By jamieratliff

I bought the Xenon to replace a Samsung Propel. I wanted a phone that would be easier to text with. The propel had a qwerty keyboard, but the keys were a bit small. The Xenon came along and grabbed my attention. Here are my thoughts on the LG Xenon.

Pros:
- The Xenon keyboard is easy to use, even for a guy like me with bigger fingers.
- The battery life is better than I expected (I don't text all day though so your mileage may vary).
- The touchscreen works fairly easy and seems to respond decent enough for me.
- The screen is large enough to use the Internet for quick information without scrolling constantly.
- The phone is designed well and sleek.
- The phone really is superior to most others for Text Messaging.

Cons:

- The phone has some minor quirks that I'd like to see fixed. Ex: Having to enter your password to clear the entire call log is annoying.
- Since it is a touchscreen, you will want to buy a screen protector. I suggest a rubber protective case with the screen protector.
- If you do not use a data plan you may find yourself accidentally getting online. The work around for this is creating invalid profiles...

Even with the cons listed, I couldn't drop the rating to 4 stars because the phone really is a good deal.
As always, I'd suggest visiting a retail store to try it out before purchasing to make sure it's comfortable for you.

4 Star Rating  "User-friendly phone but bad web experience"2009-08-21
- Reviewed By tall-latte
I bought this phone for my 11 year old son so that he can text with all of his friends (most of his friends seem to already have cell phones - a bit shocking to me). We have been very pleased with this phone, although it ends up not being much less expensive than an iPhone once you add in all the similar features. The major negative would be the web experience, as the web browser and web speed are surprisingly horrible, despite the 3G. It must have a very slow processor and/or very poor web browser software. If you intend to do a lot of web browsing, then I recommend against this phone. However, if it is primarily for phone calls and text messaging, then it is great.

As an iPhone user, I was a bit surprised how you get nickel and dimed if you want to add features similar to the iPhone. For example, on the iPhone, you have Google Maps for free GPS functionality (although it does not have turn by turn instructions). On this phone, you have to subscribe to AT&T's GPS service, which is an extra $10/month (ouch). Similarly, with an iPhone and MobileMe, you can get free location services via Find My iPhone. With this phone, you have to pay an extra $10/month for AT&T's FamilyMap feature. If you add those in plus a data plan, you are already higher than the iPhone's $30/month data plan fee. So really ask yourself how you will use the phone. The iPhone ends up being a better value for heavy users (and provides a much better web experience), but this phone is awesome for text messaging.

The battery life on this phone is also excellent (far superior to the iPhone 3GS).

The music player is pretty lame if you are used to an iPod or iPhone, but it does get the job done

One major complaint if you want to listen to music is that there is no standard headphone jack, and I have had a hard time finding an adapter to use regular earbuds with the phone. The Motorola adapter that is out there apparently does not work with this phone, and I so far have not been able to find a compatible accessory.

The user interface is intuitive and easy to learn, my 11 year old son got up to speed quickly. The only negative I can think of is that it's not obvious how to quickly put the phone in silent or vibrate mode.

Overall, I highly recommend this phone if it fits your needs (no major web usage), especially with the great prices available. I wouldn't replace my iPhone with it, but if the iPhone didn't exist, I wouldn't mind having this phone as my own. My son loves it.

Our family does a lot of texting to keep in touch. We have found this is a great way to communicate in a non-demanding way. Where we live, the cell service by ALL the competetors is VERY lacking. AT&T has good coverage. Doing the homework BEFORE you commit to a contract is important. Did the homework on this phone's features as well. VERY happy with all features. I don't need internet access so I have this feaure blocked. Glad we own three of these phones. Good job LG + AT&T!!! :)
