"More exciting when it was on my iphone" | 2009-11-12 |

| I downloaded Autodesk Sketchbook as an app to my iphone and instantly fall in love with it. Because of that, I seek a bigger screen to do some serious sketches and therefore I went for the full software on my computer. It is a good simple software but not as exciting as when it was in the iphone, because it evens out with other similar softwares when it is on the bigger computer screen. The software stays on the easy intuitive end and therefore medium simple kind of work is the best to use. For the price it is a good deal. |

I have no formal computer training, and have never learned to draw, paint, or sketch properly with a mouse or pad, BUT, the Autodesk Sketchbook Pro 2010 has been fairly easy for me to learn. Without reading any help sections, I jumped right in and played with the program and within 2 hours or so I was thoroughly familiar with the tools, and could create drawings, save them, and send them in emails...all very easily.
I also had my husband, who's computer skills are extremely limited, play with Autodesk Sketch to see if he could figure it out...he did ok, and needed some direction from me. My 13 yr old daughter was able to get in and create some beautiful drawings right away.
For our purposes, the variety of tools and choices in colors are fine. I particularly like the way that when an attachment comes in an email, you can choose to have it open with Autodesk Sketchbook Pro, save it, then work with it later on. Super fast, super easy.
I think the next thing i need to get is a wacom. |

| I would usually never take the time to write a review, but I was so impressed with Sketchbook Pro 2010 that I've changed my mind. To those of you who have already used previous versions of Sketchbook this is a continuation of the same great program. You will not be disappointed. To those of you who have never used Sketchbook, this will become an essential tool as your skills continue to develop in the fields of art and design. You can't beat the price here at Amazon and while I usually like to keep my trade secrets secret, Sketchbook Pro 2010 deserves a standing ovation. I kept my review brief as the product will speak for itself. |

| I've got to say that after having used a great many sketching and digital image creation tools in the past, this one has immediately emerged as my favorite ideation tool. Whether simply popping off a few gesture sketches to convey a direction or idea or doing a moderately detailed sketch render, this is the application I open most. Even though this application is bereft of a slew of nice filters and effects palettes, it still allows you the flexibility to save your images in PSD format thereby preserving layers so you can edit in other applications more suited for full on renderings and layouts like Photoshop and Painter. But for raw sketch power and brain dump, this is the most intuitive and easy to use sketching application I have found yet. |

"Great software, but questionable license issues" | 2009-10-12 |

| Sketchbook Pro software is great. This was a gift to a user of the software for years and this software never seizes to amaze. However, when I first received the item it was in opened packaging. This means there was no seal on the CD case and the serial number was clearly printed on the back. This is extremely unusual for software of any kind. I promptly told Amazon about it and they sent me another copy. However, the next copy arrived in the same condition. I honestly do not know if that is how it is sold in stores, but either way that is not right for the consumer. Software should arrived both (1) sealed and (2) with the serial number properly hidden. Otherwise, it is too easy for others to copy and return or use the serial number you purchased. I usually do not comment on packaging, but in this case I do feel that it is warranted. |

I couldn't want any other software. Sketchbook Pro is very simple, no cluttering toolbars or windows, but at the same time, it has everything you could need. From Pencil, to canvas rotation, to Airbrush, to rulers, Sketchbook Pro has it all.
It makes it SO easy to make comics!! What I do, is draw the separate panels on Sketchbook Pro, and add them into a comic on Comic Life (I use Mac OS X Snow Leopard). I LOVE the look of the pencil, airbrush, and marker effects, especially. There's nothing bad to say. It's AWESOME, and it deserves 5 stars, without a doubt.
It's perfect. I didn't know if I should get it or not, even when I read the reviews, but I got it anyway - And I SURELY don't regret it. In my opinion, it's better than Photoshop any day!
Sketchbook Pro and the Wacom Intuos 4 Tablet go together like peanut butter and jelly... They're UNSTOPPABLE together, and it makes it possible to create and color sketches in minutes, import them to JPG, TIF, MPG, etc. Then upload them onto facebook, myspace, deviant art, and all those sites with the click of a mouse (not TIF on facebook though, I know that).
(if you happen to have the same problem as I did: You make a sketch with layers, and try to upload it onto facebook, but facebook upload doesn't accept TIF, and TIF is the only format that accepts layers, then do this. Open your sketch on a DIFFERENT PROGRAM, like paintbrush or maybe even Photoshop, and right when you open it, save it (save AS). Then do save as JPG, not TIF. Then, you should be able to upload it!)
Get it. Get it get it! Trust me, you will NOT regret it. Get it while it's on sale! |
