This is the third Blu-ray player I have purchased and once again I am very pleased that I purchased the Sony. The '360' model does load quicker than its predecessor. Other reviews I read denoted dissatisfaction in the fact Sony eliminated the 'door open' feature from the remote. When the open door function is depressed on the machine, the door opens almost instantaneously and only 2 seconds is lost when placing or removing a disc. And product setup is a breeze. The product arrived within 2 days of purchase and its box was packed securely within a plain outer box (perfect had this been ordered as a present). I have found purchasing through Amazon is effortless and allows me the opportunity to shop for/and acquire the absolute best price without the hassle of dealing with the multitude of retail 'know-it-not's'.
The Sony Blu-Ray player has so far met all of my expectations and makes DVDs look incredibly, in addition to the Blu-Ray discs. The one feature that it could have, and perhaps will have in the future, is the ability to stream netflix films, or other online features. BD-live thus far, is a bit of a disappointment, and you need to attach a USB memory stick for that to even work.
For the price, however, it is an excellent buy, and after getting an HDTV, it just doesn't make sense, not to have a blu-ray that can also upscale your dvds.

The thing that gets me with this is yes it has a 6 second option where you insert a dvd and it's playing very quickly, but with this option the fan runs full time and obviously uses more power. If you don't use this option you are waiting and waiting and waiting for this player to wake-up, open drive to insert disc, and then play. No happy medium here, either run wide open constantly or wake it up from a deep sleep and wait for approx 2 minutes. The energy thing is fine for me but the fan constantly running gives me images of it burning up rather quickly.
Summary
I would buy it again, nothing super spectacular, but it has an attractive price tag.
I saw this on sale for almost half off, so I picked one up, even though I wasn't really ready. Good move. This little unit is great. I didn't expect a lot of features at this price point, but what this unit does, it does well. It's not a Bravia, but has Bravia link so you can control your TV and B-R disc player with one remote. This works with other TVs, too. Not just Sony. I was impressed with the picture, but I was really impressed with the upscaling. My old dvds never looked so good. If you're looking for a really good, really inexpensive Blu-ray disc player, this is your unit.
Set it on fast boot time (uses some power while it's off) or this thing takes forever to turn on.

Can't say I have any negative comments about this product. My needs are simple: a good quality picture, easy set-up and reliable operation. I opened the box, plugged it in and started watching movies in HiDef.
