"Love the Zoom on the Canon PowerShot" | 2009-11-07 |

| I took my new camera for a 4-day visit to So. Africa's Kruger National Park, and was exceptionally pleased. Being a Canon fan, learning the features was pretty straight-forward. The camera feels good in my hand and I liked the color more than I thought (all my others were silver or black). I liked the direct dial to the camera modes (over the menu); the compact size for a 12x zoom is great; the zoom is awesome for such a small package, however it went from optical directly to digital and I prefer to do digital adjustments on my computer. This is my first camera without a view finder and it took getting used to it. The 3 inch screen is nice and bright, although a bit challenging in brilliant sunlight. I am quite happy with the image quality, probably due to image stabilization, but I also used the kids/pets mode for animals in motion. The colors are crisp and clear. The flash, as reported, is only effective for subjects pretty close in, well under 10 feet. I didn't try the low light feature as I didn't have a tripod. I'm really glad I purchased a back up battery (the Lenmar DLC5L equivalent to NB-5L) as it was usually mid day when it went out; either battery lasted about a day and a half of constant on-off, a lot of flash and only a little video. I got the Transcend 8 GB SDHC Class 6 flash memory card which was plenty for my trip. I'm very happy with my purchases and highly recommend this camera for those who like to zoom and frame their photos. |

"Not as good as the reviews" | 2009-11-04 |

We liked the zoom, but were pretty unimpressed with the picture quality. We are trying to upgrade from a 3.1 megapixel Kodak and honestly, we really couldn't see much better picture clarity with the canon. You'd think that jumping up 4X in MP we'd see a remarkable difference. We didn't.
We liked the camera, software is easy to install and use, and the zoom was nice, but too much money for the quality of pics. We are returning the camera and going to try the Sony Cypershot. |

"Great camera in a small package" | 2009-11-04 |

| We bought this camera from Amazon just before a trip to Europe. We didn't have much time to go over all of the features before leaving but managed to get some great photos. The zoom is excellent, picture quality is excellent and it is very easy to use. Battery life is also good. Have not used the video feature yet so can not comment on that. I bought an 8GB card to go with it which allowed for some 2,000+ pictures to be stored at high resolution. I highly recommend this camera if you are lookig for a compact design with loads of features and great optical zoom. Also pleasantly surprised to find it was made in Japan not China. |

"Great Picture and Video Quality!!!" | 2009-10-23 |

This camera is great. I just got it in the mail a few days ago, and it works wonders!
I immediately started shooting some pictures, and the picture quality is unreal. Real HD (well...pretty much!). There are a lot of different features, and once you know how to use them (I am still learning by the way), you will be amazed and consider yourself a professional photographer! You can crop, change colors etc all in the camera. I love it! The only "bad" thing (which really isn't that bad), is that I basically bought this camera to replace my old PowerShot, and thought that I could use the battery from the old one as an additional battery for the PowerShot SX200 IS. But, the battery from SX 200 IS is shorter and wider, so I can't really use the old Canon PowerShot battery. But that's ok though! The life of the battery is great!
The picture colors are ridiculous, really! They are so vivid. It looks like I am litterally holding what I shot. The zoom, no comments! It's FANTASTIC! You can take picture from so far away! It's awesome...I am very impressed and proud of this purchase! I agree with the "negative" reviews: its not for point and shoot users. But it can be. Just change the setting to "Easy" mode OR the "Manual" mode and you're good to go!
It's a little bigger than your regular digital cameras out there, but nothing crazy. It fits better in larger hands anyway...
:-)

If you are looking for a camera that does it all..but is simple to work...this is it! I am not the techie kind of person. I wanted simple with flexibility and have it with this camera. Plenty of settings from Automatic to portrait to landscape to action and if you want to set shutter speed & apature you can do that too. It even has video capabilities.
The ease of use is a godsend. One button the turn it on, one to zoom in and one to take the photo. You press down the button to take the photo 1/2 way and it focuses the shot. Push down the rest of the way and snap your photo. If the camera can't focus on what you are trying to shoot because you are too close or some other reason then the button won't go the whole way down. I like this feature. I'm sure that it would be more valuable in a film camera...however no use wasting memory for no good reason.
Photos come out clear. It's easy to delete photos as you go or all at once. I haven't worked much with the video settings yet.
If you need a reliable camera that takes great photos this is it! |

"A shame" | 2009-10-13 |

I don't really like this product!
I find that is not comfortable the pop up flash.
The lens retraction is really TOO slow the same as the shooter (easy to lost THE moments).
The auto setting MANY times fails (really bad), you can't trust on it to take a good picture... Is better to use manual settings.
The light capture is deficient the most of the times (it's a shame, maybe the worst).
It was a big deception for me.
