    Tons of people have already given this outstanding reviews. I'm submitting this review to point out a great case.

    This case, Case Logic Large E-Sling, fits this (or any same-sized netbook, like a glove.

    Here's more details:

    This bag fits my ASUS Eee PC 1000HE like a glove! Another review mentioned that including the power supply would make for a tight fit and it was right. However, for me the point of having a laptop with a long battery life was to avoid having to lug the power supply everywhere I go. (To be on the safe side, however, I purchased a second power supply, HQRP AC Adapter / Power Supply for ASUS Eee PC 900 900A 900HA 900HD 900SD 901 904HA 1000 1000H 1002HA 1000XP S101 Netbook / Subnotebook Replacement, to have one at home and one at my office.

    The extra compartments are an added bonus. I'll be using this as my carry-on for my next flight.

    As for the lack of a keyring, my go-to solution is a Nite Ize SB234-03-01 S-Biner Black, 3-Pack and this is no exception!

    I purchased this netbook mostly for travel, but I find I'm using it more and more for every day purposes. Although it lacks a CD/DVD drive, there are work-arounds for installing software....using another computer to transfer an entire CD/DVD onto a flash drive, and then using that drive to install the program onto the netbook. This seems to work for many programs, even the big ones ( a 4 GB drive should work fine).

    This netbook has plenty of power and speed. The battery life is awesome! Wifi signals come in loud & clear, as well as, Bluetooth. The longest battery life came with the lowest CPU settings...no surprises here either. On the fastest CPU setting, you can expect a 6 hours of real time; the slowest setting produced the advertised 9.5 hours. Recharge time is nominal and average. Very bright/sharp screen display. Almost no heat produced on the bottom cover, just warm. My other laptop produces an almost scalding temperature.

    I ordered this from Amazon, and it came several days earlier than expected!!! Frankly, they also had the best price on the internet. Not sorry at all I purchased this netbook. 2 thumbs up

    This is exactly what I thought it would be. Boasts a 9 hour battery life, but I get more like 6-7. I added a second 1GB memory card to give it more performance, and it was easy. I can play World of Warcraft on it smoothly (with lowest graphics settings), though I would not recommend dungeons, etc. Great for portability around the house or taking on the go. Hooking up to HDTV does cause it to be a little choppy (50 inch plasma display). Guessing this is due to requiring more power to drive the display. Anyway it is great and exactly what I expected

    I bought the 1000HE specifically for business travel. I was tired of lugging around a large laptop with low battery life.

    The 1000HE fit the bill. It's lightweight and, best of all, has outstanding battery life. With more and more flights offering wifi on-board, this netbook is perfect. With limited space on planes, the 1000HE is ideal to use on a flight.

    Good: battery life, quick boot, easy-to-use keyboard, great wifi reception

    Negative: it takes a while to get used to the smaller screen

    This is a great computer. When I bought it I immediately installed EEEbuntu on an empty partition that was lying around. EEEbuntu worked out nicely, however I was only getting about 8 hours of battery life from it (this was even after doing a lot of tweaking). More recently I've been using XP, getting ~10.5 hours of battery life on the lowest brightness with WIFI turned off.

    The keyboard is good. The only complaint I have are that you have to hold function to access the home and end buttons. As a programmer I use these all the time when I'm coding (especially holding shift and using them) and I still haven't gotten used to it. Other than that it's a great keyboard.

    The touchpad is alright. On one hand, I love the multitouch features on it. But, they can be a little wild sometimes - sending you to the bottom of a document when you only wanted to scroll a few lines. In addition, I feel like the mouse buttons below the touch pad don't always register when I press them, which can be frustrating. That said, it's still usable save for a few annoyances.

    The screen size is standard for these types of netbooks. You'll definitely need to do some tweaking to maximize this. In EEEbuntu, they've partially taken care of this by configuring the gnome panel to save space. In addition to this, I tweaked Firefox (by installing some addons) to only have one toolbar which contains the "File, Edit, View.." menu, the navigation buttons, and the location bar. This toolbar also autohides on a key press. I tried to get the tabs on this toolbar also but I ended up removing the "File, Edit, View.." menu which made it difficult to modify anything else. In XP I'm autohiding the taskbar and using Google Chrome which saves a lot of screen real estate. Sometimes I wish I had gone for a 12" laptop instead because of the small screen size, so this is an important factor to consider.

    Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. It's super light and portable which was what I was looking for. A 12" screen might have been a better in retrospect, but nothing beats the battery life on this machine.

    Eagerly opened my first netbook, only to find I just could not get the wireless working properly. Downloaded new drivers,still not working right. I got it connected to my wireless network fine, and some websites came up, but others just froze. When I connected it via cable to the LAN, all was fine, but the wireless was freezing up. Called the 800 number for Asus, a woman walked me through some diagnostics, and declared that I must have a bad wireless adaptor. I could send it to ASUS for repair, or return to Amazon. No question there. Thanks to Amazon for a great return program, within a few days I had a new unit and all is well. Wireless is fine, keyboard is comfortable. Battery so far is in the 7-8 hour range, but I have not played with any of the settings yet to try and increase it. Yes, the speaker is weak, but no worse than my 2 year old Toshiba laptop. So I would recommend this unit. Just disappointed that the first unit received was defective. Glad I bought it from an easy to return site like Amazon.
