The winning combination of automatic time-setting, no-hassle solar-cell power, and an analog dial makes this the best watch I've ever owned.
By day I work in an indoor office. At night, I just toss this watch on my night stand or in a dresser drawer. In other words, no special feeding of extra sunlight. Yet in five months of flawless operation, the battery has never run down. It also seems to be able to satellite-synchronize with the Denver atomic clock without being placed on a window sill. And I love the analog dial; very retro. The band is plastic, but sturdy and comfortable.
Its few shortcomings are:
1. The digital screen is very tiny and its icons are cryptic. It's hard to read, and when the minute hand is between 5 and 7 it's even harder.
2. Adjusting the various features is more intuitive than some previous watches, but still not terribly user-friendly. It's hard to remember all the cryptic sequences of button-pushes needed to view and adjust the less-frequently used auxiliary features.
3. The watch lacks a count-down timer, which would be handy in the kitchen.
So I'd give it 4.5 stars out of five, but that rounds to five. An excellent value.

I was braced for a more difficult set up than it actually was. The direction booklet was just about usless. Not because it did not contain the correct information, because it was too small. There is a PDF file available on the Casio site that makes setting up and navigating through the functions much easier. The watch is a little on the big side but not more so than many other watches on the market. The face is clean and uncluttered. I like the fact that the dial has all the numbers and not just hash marks which helps in reading the illuminated dial in the dark. I have not had any problems receiving the radio signal and do not need to set it by a window. When I took the watch out of the box in was on mid power. After a few hours under a lamp it's been on hi since.

I lost my Timex digital so it was time for a new watch. I decided that I wanted a Chronograph watch but also wanted a digital readout. This watch does it all at a very reasonable price. It also links to the atomic clock in the US to update the time every night. You won't need to replace the battery since it charges up in the light.
The watch is very confusing to set up, but once it's done you're good. The hands glow in the dark briefly if you've been in enough light. Not really long enough. There is a back-light for the digital display. All in all a great watch.Casio Men's Waveceptor Solar Atomic Ana-Digi Sport Watch #WVA430J-1
"The No Worry Watch"

It is hard to believe that Casio could get all the technology that this watch has in it for under $100. Never worry about setting time, never worry about batteries, and it has a stopwatch, and world time. I previously spent hundreds of dollars on watches that seemed to require some degree of care and attention, and then died. Granted, I've only had this watch for about a month but if it last two or three years I'll be so much further ahead than with my previous watches. My guess, based on my son wearing Casio for years (and he is harder on watches than me), is that this watch will last a very long time. I have no complaints.
