Here is what people are saying about the Duracell Powerpack 450 Portable Generator, Charger, Air Compressor
5 Star Rating  "Duracell Powerpack 450 loaded with features"
- Reviewed By An Amazon User from CA
I recently had the opportunity to try several similar products by other manufacturers and was pleased to find the Duracell Powerpack 450 features more advanced and easier to use. The digital status display and audio enunciation of status were very useful.

I'm not sure about this Duracell 450 charger. I've had it a little over a year and it doesn't accept a charge anymore. The instructions say to charge it once every three months, but if you slip up and go a little longer, apparently you kill it. The internal battery is "user-replaceable" which means, I guess, you have to shell out more money for the most expensive part.

To be fair, I live in the southwest and it does get hot (up to 110-118 degrees summer temps), and I carried it around in the trunk of the car, which gets hot. I suppose this killed it. However, we people here in extreme temps need a jump start too, Duracell should come up with a more climate-resilient battery.

But, bottom line, the charger doesn't do anyone any good if it has to be coddled in a cool room somewhere and not carried around in the trunk of one's car! It's ridiculous to waste money on a car jump starter/tire inflater that will end up failing in a year or so because of extreme outdoor temps. And now, because of the time, I can't return it.

I'm just glad I, or anyone in my family wasn't stranded somewhere when it was discovered it doesn't work.

5 Star Rating  "MY EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN GOOD"

I purchased this item before reading the reviews , which I never do. I just spaced it out and I am glad that I did. Had I read the reviews I would not have purchased this powerpack and opted for the 600watt instead which has many more positive reviews and a lower price. However that being said this unit has functioned flawlessly and exactly as it is supposed to. Everything works great and I am happy I brought it. As always shipping at Amazon happens quickly and most of the time their prices are really good.

1 Star Rating  "CHARGING IS COMPLETED!!!"
- Reviewed By An Amazon User from Austin, TX
This thing is so terrible... I managed to air up one flat tire before the battery was low.

Now, when I plug it in within 1 minute it starts saying "CHARGING IS COMPLETED!!!" really loud every minute. Why on earth would I want a voice indicator that this stupid thing is charged? Do I want it to wake me up in the middle of the night?! Not to mention, it doesn't actually charge. The status confirms "BATTERY IS LOW!!!" as soon as I unplug it.

What a piece of junk. Terrible design, awful, ridiculously loud, and pointless voice command, and it is broken after hardly any use.

This is just a junky Xantrex box that Duracell wrapped a stupid voice command module on and did no quality control for. Don't buy this!

2 Star Rating  "Disappointed......"

The main reason I got this was for inflating kids toys such as small baby pools, rafts, etc and other inflatables. I assume that if this device did tires, it would do the inflatable toys. I guess I should not have "assumed". I don't recall reading that in the intial description of the item but maybe my fault for not reading it better before i bought. I have not even tried the rest of the unit but am concerned with the other reviews about not enough power. Also, the compressor hose looks like someone use electric tape on it as it is unraveling. At least the light works!! Stay tuned.

1 Star Rating  "Loved the concept but poor device"
- Reviewed By An Amazon User from California
I bought this item as a Gold Box deal and was somewhat doubtful how well it will work since it received below average reviews. But I decided to give it a shot and knowing that amazon has a great return policy, I knew there was nothing to lose. So once it came, I carefully followed and read the manual making sure to do what it says. It requires a good thorough charge of I believe 2 days (48hrs) and then after using it, it requires another 36hrs of a charge, which isnt bad assuming that it wont be used on a daily basis ofcourse. So after completely reading the manual, I left it charging but no later than 1 hour, it says that the charge was complete. I was kind of confused at this point because it need a charge of 2 days. But never the less, I left it charging for 2 days realizing that it probably only is carrying an hours worth of battery life. So now I tested it out by using the flash light and the computered voice says that it will last for 2 hours long on flash light mode, when it was suppose to last much longer than that. This is where I knew something wasn't right. I charged it again hoping it will do something different but with no success, I decided on returning it. The return was very easy, since it was a faulty device, UPS came to pick it up at my door and I opted to get another one because I wanted it to work. So once I received the other powerpack, it was the same and similar problem that it wouldn't carry a sufficient charge during the initial set up. Again, after the first charge, no more than 2 hours, it says it is fully charged but when I tested the air supply unit, it last for only an 1 hour when it was suppose to last for much longer than that. I heard that this device comes charged half way but when the instructions clearly state to give it an initial charge of up to 48 hours and it says that it is fully charged after an hour, I knew something was wrong. I tested it and still to no avail, it would not supply enough power and would not last long enough as mentioned in the manual book.

In the manual, it clearly states that when the powerpack is fully charged, using the flash light should last XX hours. Using the air supply should last XX hours, etc. I tested it and it didn't last as long as it should. Not worth my money.
