This EatSmart Digital scale is splendid. It's elegantly designed and it gives accurate readings in large numbers that stay lit for three or four seconds after you step off.
I bought this digital EatSmart scale to replace a pretty large Salter spring scale that I chose originally because it needs no batteries. What I discovered though was that the spring scale's dial sweeps over a full three hundred pound index. This means that the lines are extremely close together, especially when viewed from five or six feet, looking down at the readout. It also means that you can mistake the reading by one or two pounds. The EatSmart scale is compact, accurate, consistent and an excellent value. |

"Decent scale, but a wee bit touchy" | 2009-11-08 |

Eat Smart Digital Scale / B001KXZ808
We bought this scale to replace another that had been lately temperamental. I was surprised to note that this scale seems a little kinder than the last one - we all "lost" about 3-4 pounds on this new scale, compared to the old. The old scale was about 1-2 pounds kinder than the scale at the doctor's office, which would make this one even more 'off' from the doctor's scale, but since absolute accuracy isn't that important to us, this didn't bother me.
What IS important to us is consistency and this scale definitely delivers on that front. Our last scale would vary widely between measuring - it became something of a habit to weight three times every morning and just attempt to average the measurements into a single one. This scale, on the other hand, is wonderfully consistent and delivers the same measurement no matter how many times you try, which is greatly appreciated. I also really like the backlight text - black on blue is very easy to read, even in the mornings when you're not quite awake.
If I have one complaint with this scale, it's that it's a bit touchy to turn on. You're supposed to be able to "step here" where the sticker is (a sticker that will NOT come off, no matter how many times we scrape at it and its sticky residue), but that doesn't work very often. What does seem to work each time is to apply pressure to the front edge such that the back edge lifts slightly off the ground and then kind of 'drop' the scale back into place - the jarring turns the scale on, but I'm slightly uncomfortable treating a *glass* scale roughly.

| I really like the scale, seems to weigh accurately! It said all over the box and online that it had batteries included.. I was so happy to get it and then found no batteries and I could only find 3 in my apt! Frustrating, nice scale though! |

| I guess I hadn't taken an especially close look at the photograph because I really wasn't expecting such a piece of "high design" glass and chrome. And extremely functional, to boot! Looks like it costs 3x as much, easily, and works wonderfully. |

"Great price, great looks, super accurate.. no need to tap, though" | 2009-10-30 |

| Great price, great looks, super accurate. The "tap, tap" instructions for turning it on, however, are bogus. Simply lift the front edge an inch or so and set it back down, and it comes on every time. |

| I initially had a problem getting it to turn on, but after calling the customer service number I found out what I was doing incorrectly. I couldn't believe what GREAT customer service I received. I actually spoke to the owner of the company immediately and he patiently explained to me what I was doing wrong. He also told me I have a 2 year warranty with this scale. Great looking scale with nice big numbers, accurate weight, and wonderful customer service. A great value! Thanks. |
