Hello Everyone!
I recently purchased this monitor (15 of october 2009, give or take a week)
and i haven't had any problems with it, the only drawback (or feature if you wanna see it that way) is that its bright, at its "normal" setting the monitor is very bright, so its best to lower it at the lowest possible brightness so it wont hurt your eyes.
the images on the monitor look very good, i honestly dont have any comparison to monitors of this size since it my first 28" inch monitor.
but from the expirience with this monitor its very good.
i can put it on 2 categories , watching movies and playing games:
I give it 5 stars on playing games and 4 on watching movies.
first on playing games, playing MMO's and playing FPS games is a very nice enjoyable expirience with this monitor, it has a very good image quality and also in FPS games its a good advantage to see more.
in watching movies, the main problem with watching movies in this monitor is mainly with the viewing radius, you can watch ok if you are on the same level of the monitor, but if you go below the level it can look washed or even less bright, so if you wanna make it your movie pc, you might wanna think on that, but its not a REALLY bad problem you just have to shift it slightly and it will look better.
so to sum up, its a good monitor to play games and are on a budget and ok for watching movies, for the price i bought it ($360) it only makes even better. |

Love these monitors from Amazon ... the Hanns-G 28 inch is great, have 6 of these now, two rotated 90 degrees for emails and chat windows, and the rest normal. I run 4 monitor set ups in 1920x1200 with 2 rotated for emails and chats. Do not have to wear my glasses surrounded with these, created horseshoe configuration and nothing further than 18 inches from face. color is as good or better than all others and so far "NO" failures, also run 30 inch dell, which I do not like as well as these. Definitely pick these over any others and do not bother with 24inch when you can have these ...
I take off my glasses at the computer and easy on the eyes ... |

| This monitor works fine overall, except for one big problem: when displaying a large amount of text in MS Word, it emits a low but clearly audible buzzing noise. No other monitor I've ever had has done this, and muting the computer doesn't help. So if you do a lot of writing, I would recommend you stay away from this monitor. |

This was the best value for the largest LCD I could find within a reasonable price range, and very good user ratings too. I am very happy with mine for business use. The size is huge and the widescreen format and gives me a lot of room for viewing applications with panes or side bars that normally squeeze the main window like some email suites or software development tools. With the screen size and wide format I am a lot more productive with less left-right scrolling while working on applications with text that runs off the screen such as for software code. I can actually see everything in front of me.
The monitor is large, and if you sit as close as I do, it will wash out a little bit if you are not centered. My eyes line up with the top 1/5 of the screen, and the bottom 1/5 is a little washed out due to viewing angle, but is still very readable. All I need to do is raise it up on my desk. The stand looks nice and swivels, but you cannot raise or lower. I use it every day and still don't mind it as-is. I use the VGA connection the most based on some other reviews, but now I wish I had used the DVI-D connection for my primary computer. The DVI-D seems a little cleaner, but not enough of a difference to bother changing the cable connections to my two computers. One drawback with this monitor is switching between inputs. You have to use hidden side-mounted buttons that require more than one press. You press the input list button, then use up or down arrow, then input again to select it. Since there are only 2 inputs, up or down just toggles. I switch inputs all the time and have just gotten use to it. I just memorized the feel of the buttons (2nd from top button), then click 2-3-2 to make the switch.
A surprise to me was that it came with every cable they could think of. It arrived with a VGA to VGA, HDMI to DVI-D, VGA to component video, stereo to minijack, and minijack to minijack. Note that this uses the DVI-D (D means digital) which is not compatible with older DVI analog cables or sources. For example, you can't use a VGA to DVI-A cable. But this monitor has 2 inputs, VGA and DVI-D. The quality of the cables seem great. There is no shadowing or anything. I had tried a Belkin "Pro" VGA cable which resulted in a ton of shadows, but the one it came with works perfectly.
I run it at 1440x900 resolution. Some say you have to run it at its native resolution to get the best results. I think it is great like this. I need larger sizes, not just more screen space. I used to run 1024x768 on my old monitor, and this adds about 40% in width and increases the size of everything about 15% over my previous size. I could set it to 1600x1200 to effectively keep the text sizes from my old 1024x768 setup, but like the mix of larger text and more screen space.
So this review is on the overall value since I couldn't find anything close in the price range. You get a huge, current, wide-screen monitor for a really low price. I haven't had mine for long, so I cannot comment on the durability. But I like it enough that I just ordered a 2nd one to use at my work office. |

I've had this monitor for over 10 months, and it works GREAT. Perhaps not suited to the super-high-end designer or photography professional, but for casual use, HDTV, and many long hours of engineering work, it is awesome - best 'bang for buck' of the *many* monitors I've bought for work & home over past couple decades.
Mine is wall-mounted with a flat, cheap VESA mount; for work at home, I use it as primary development space, where the big workspace at 1900x1200 is a treat... with another 22" widescreen on an articulating wall mount in adjacent corner, it creates the perfect home-office work setup for me, with them pulled together.
When not working, this is the *perfect* display for general 'eyes over forty' use - web, word, finances in excel, whatever... my home PC uses HDMI input (work laptop dock plugged into VGA port), and with Hauppage tuner card or Sony BluRay drive, running this at 1080p makes HDTV & movies a pleasure (the speakers are OK; I just use 'em for work laptop, with separate surround speakers on home PC).
Very satisfied... I'm tempted to buy another to set up at work, so i'm more inclined to spend time at the office - it takes strength to go there and work on dual ~20-inch monitors after being spoiled by this at home. |
