| I love this product! I have used another Hoover model in the past which was very good, but this one was even better. It has separate tanks for the soap and the water so it saves time not having to measure out the soap every time you need to replace the water. It does an excellent job! I couldn't believe the amount of actual dirt on the bottom of the container after using the product. Not to mention how black the water was! I feel much better to have this product in my house, with a dog and two small children. It more than pays for itself when you figure the rental fees of other machines (not as good) and for having to drag around heavy equipment. |

I am so excited about this cleaner that it is silly- have facebooked at least 3 times today about it and went out and bought more cleaner
I have tan carpet and was disgusted as to how much dirt came up- the water was black and opaque when I emptied it. YUCK!
I think it is easy to use if you follow the directions. I agree with all other postive review so will be brief.
PROS:
1. CLEANS like a dream
2. easy to operate
3. easy to push even though the unit is heavy
4. holds lots of water so I don't have to keep emptying like my last unit
5. long cord lets me keep working instead of plugging and unplugging
6. price- don't hate me, but I bought this at Target on clearance for $67!!!
7. don't have to mix detergent
8. doesn't leave soap in your carpet
9. lots of attachments
CONS:
1. wish the spin brush popped out (but not that hard to clean if you can lift the unit)
2. is heavy to carry upstairs |

"hoover prosumer is not industrial or commercial quality" | 2009-10-06 |

does a beautiful job if you are cleaning home carpets which have been reasonably well maintained. but this is not a commercial quality unit by any means. i had to take mine in for repair after doing only 200 sq ft in a commercial application, and the sludge reservoir fills much too quickly and the dirty water intake is much too difficult to clean to use for any serious jobs.
that said, i am planning to keep it around for periodic maintenance, but only because i already have it and destroyed its shipping box.. but please don't think that if you have a high traffic commercial area and havent had your rugs steamed in a few years that this device, despite having lots of flashy top-of-the-line names, is anywhere near the worth of a real industrial cleaner like those made by Kleenrite, Mytee, etc, which do cost 3x or more.
Basically, you get what you pay for, and this is ultimately a low-capacity piece of plastic junk good for a house or an occasional follow-up cleanup job. |

"Better than Rug Doctor and my carpet cleaning guy." | 2009-09-18 |

I have a light tan carpet that gets dirty very easily. I have paid a carpet guy to come out and clean it when it gets really bad because he always does a great job. Unfortunately, the carpet gets dirty fast, and I can't afford to keep paying him to come out and clean it every time it does. I have two young kids...10 and 6... and a small dog that forgets to go outside to relieve herself sometimes. I have used the Rug Doctor on my own several times on the carpet, and the cleaning was pretty good, but that thing is so darned heavy and clunky to use, not to mention the pain it is to keep emptying and replenishing water and cleaner. I purchased a Bissell cleaner from Sam's Club at one point figuring it should be good enough....wrong...it was horrible. It really didn't clean much at all. Back to the Club it went. A year or so went by after that, and I knew there had to be a better cleaner out there somewhere that I could afford, so I waited. I had a Hoover vacuum cleaner that worked really well, so I thought of trying a Hoover when one was on sale. I saw the Hoover Platinum Collection Carpet Cleaner on sale at Kohl's for $399.99 and I had a 30% off coupon, plus I would get $10 in Kohl's cash for every $50 I spent. Great, I thought, here is my opportunity. I read all of the reviews here and figured that with over 90% of them being either a 4 or mostly a 5, I would try it. I purchased it today and ended up only spending $280 for it, plus after buying the cleaner and a couple other items, I ended up with $60 in Kohl's cash for later use. Not bad, I tell ya.
Now, for my review of the carpet cleaner........I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I have tried many carpet cleaners in the past, but this one is wonderful. First of all, I suggest you read the instructions very carefully to get familiar with how to use it before you actually start...it makes it pretty easy to use if you understand it well. I cleaned the main entrance to my living room, which gets extremely dirty, and it cleaned it to a nearly new-looking appearance with the first pass of cleaning. I was ecstatic. I ended up cleaning the whole house and can't believe the outcome. Everything cleaned up perfectly. I seriously feel that this cleaner has done an even better job than my carpet cleaning guy and the Rug Doctor. Honestly. I noticed there were two bad reviews on this product....I thought maybe those two people got lemons, or perhaps they don't realize that you have to expect a little mess when using any type of carpet cleaner...the Rug Doctor always had me cleaning up a bit afterwards, but it is expected, I feel, considering how clean it is getting everything. I think the tanks in this machine were pretty much adequate for the ease of use. I think the capacity was what I would expect. Anyhow, it was well worth the money I spent. Had I known it cleaned this well, I would have bought it at full price if it never was on sale. You won't be sorry.

"Much better than the "All Terrain" model..." | 2009-09-18 |

I bought this to replace a 2-year-old Hoover "All Terrain" SteamVac that broke -- tank and brushes. The old machine is still serviceable (Hoover sent me a new tank and I fixed the brush mechanism myself) but I've relegated it to my shop.
This "Platinum Collection" cleaner is a better tank design -- the valves are better and the plastic material shouldn't crack as easily -- and the dual brush system seems quite a lot better.
I've used the new machine twice with good results. The new tanks are a bit harder to carry for refilling and the dirty water tank is a complicated design but, once I got used to it, it's all fine.
One thing: don't let anyone tell you that you can use this machine and not get a lot of dirty water everywhere when you finish and want to clean up. There's no way you can remove all of the bits that need to be rinsed off without spilling and/or dripping dirty water from the machine's internals. So be sure you put the machine somewhere you don't mind getting wet BEFORE you start taking it apart to clean!
That caveat aside, I'm quite happy with this new Hoover. I've only given it 4 stars because I want to wait and see how it holds up. The old machine cleaned very well, too, but it was NOT durable. To anyone who's considering the "All Terrain" instead of this model to save a few bucks I say: don't do it! The Platinum model is significantly better. |

"It really does a excellent job." | 2009-09-16 |

| After calling 5 stores we finally found one at a Bed bath beyond 25 miles from our house. We paid $320 with the 20% off coupon. Not cheap! I must admit I was concerned about the quality of this cleaner being there is so much plastic. I am still concerned. As far as what this cleaner can do...it cleans like no other cleaner we have owned or rented. This Hoover really blows the rug doctor out of the water. We have 3 wiener dogs that shed a lot and they like to dig...meaning they track in a ton of dirt. We thought the rug doctor did a good job until we used this Hoover. It was like night and day. Our 12 stairs look like new, traffic areas look like new. We couldn't be any happier. 2 years ago we tried a professional cleaner with the steam machine in the truck and they did a decent job, but even the hoover beat their job. My only complaint is the cost of the recommended cleaning solution. We went through 100 oz to clean our house. Still not bad considering we paid $200 for professionals that didn't do as good as the Hoover. One other concern is no one carries the cleaning solution locally. I gave the this Hoover Platinum a 5 star being it does such a wonderful job getting our carpets like new. It really is amazing. I just hope the plastic holds up and that I can find the cleaning solution locally. I consider this a must buy...best buy! |
