"A Great Value!!" | 2009-11-16 |

Like many, I too looked for months at all that was out there in the 52" LCD HDTV market, and like many others was quite impressed with this model. I was fortunate to pick it up on Amazon for less than $1400.00, so for the money it is such a great value. I currently only have digital cable but the picture still looks great and I'm looking forward to seeing this set work using HD source. Many comments mention fine tuning or tweaking for preference and no matter what big screen HDTV you buy you will need to do this. The variables such as lighting in the room and picture preference will dictate this. I too would recommend shutting off the Automotion Plus feature while viewing movies. It is very easy to do and if you really want to fine tune this feature you can adjust both anti-blur and dejudder which on other major HDTV mfg models you don't have this choice. The picture is just simply amazing using all sources and if you have the PS3 you may now know that Netflix has recently offered their streaming service for this platform and it works flawlessly. Bottom line-looking at all the specs that count this TV offers excellent value and of course the thing that really matters the most picture quality.
Last note: My experience with Pilot was excellent. They delivered 2 days earlier than scheduled, called me at work when in route to my house and a team were there when I arrived. They were in and out in about 5 minutes. Keep an eye on the price of this set and buy it! |

"Samsung 52 in LCD" | 2009-11-14 |

Great TV w/ a super price. I had been looking for several months to upgrade to a larger TV in the family room and the Samsung LN52B630 was the one which offered more for the money. I previously had a 42 in. Samsung Plasma EDTV in the room, but was wanting to go with the LCD due to the brightness of the room. This screen has more shine than its LCD competitors, however it is way better than the glare/mirror reflection of plasma screens, and to me, not as bad as the reviews say. The features are plenty with this model including the 120 Hz refresh rate 4 HDMI inputs, multiple audio inputs, etc. all below $1500 is a bonus. The trim of the TV is nice with a clear border and gloss black exterior edge, even though the Touch of Color, (ToC), red is present at the bottom of the frame, its not that obscene. The touch pad for the basic TV controls, (no raised push buttons), are also nice, located in the center at the bottom of the frame, but seriously, who gets up to change channels or turn on/off the TV anymore? That takes us to the remote. It's big, but so is the TV, so far easy and funtional. Also the remote has a nice backlight feature thats great in dark rooms, my cable remote operates the TV so the factory model goes in the TV hutch until I need to swith the "source" function for DVD play, etc. The sound quality was OK, however I have a surround sound system running and mute the factory TV volume. Overall, very satisfied and would recommend to someone looking for a larger LCD. You cannot go wrong with the Samsung name/brand!
PS...Free shipping was a breeze! The shipping company emailed the link to set up a delivery date, they called in route, I met them at my house and 2 guys brought it in the door and placed the box where instructed. I unpacked and hung the TV myself,as the TV is lightweight at less than 60lbs. without the stand, much lighter than my old 42" plasma. |

| I've been watching the Samsung TV reviews for close to a year to help me decide which TV I wanted. I was all set to buy the LN52B650 when I read about the reflection issue in brightly lit rooms, my living room is all glass big problem. I started to read reviews about the matte finish screen on the LN52B630 but wasan't sure so I keep reading the reviews. I finally purchased the 630 in October. I couldn't be happier with this TV reflection isn't an issue at all. Thank god for Amazon reviews. The set was shipped for free good deal, Pilot Freight has to be the best, they called the day before to set up the delivery they arrived on time took it out of the box set it on the stand and pluged it in, they even took away the empty box who could ask for more. Do yourself a favor buy this TV now!!! |

| This was the 2nd Samsung LCD TV I purchased and it was even better than the first one. In my opinion, the quality of Samsung is way better than any other TV out there. Sony is the only other one that comes close. THe picture quality of this TV was absolutely amazing and what was the most surprising was how much better the quality of programming in standard definition was. I didn't expect that and it was a great surprise. Totally worth the price and I would recommend it to anyone. |

"I absolutely love this TV!" | 2009-10-29 |

I absolutely love this TV! I was actually looking to get a LED TV but the 46' was too small for my room and the 55' was just too much money for me. I decided the go with this Samsung 52' LCD and I could not be happier I did. The picture is fantastic and I love the matte finish. I always had a issue with the sun coming into the room with my old TV and with this TV it's no longer an issue. My wife fought me a little about getting a new TV, stating that our old TV was fine and did the job. She has since changed her mind after seeing the picture on this TV. We now fight over who's going to get to watch TV. It has more than enough HDMI inputs for my needs. As far as gaming goes, the XBOX 360 look awesome! However, there was a little lag between me hitting the buttons on the controller and the action on the screen, BUT once I switched to `game' mode it was a lot better almost no lag at all.
The TV looks great mounted on my wall and I even like the TOC red. I was unsure if I would but it's very subtle.
I had never ordered a TV online before so I was a little leery, BUT CEVA delivered my TV 3 days before my estimated delivery date and was top notch. They unpack the TV and tested to make sure it was not damaged and in working order. Very smooth, in and out in minutes. I would never hesitate to order another TV from Amazon.
Overall I am extremely pleased with my purchase and my service from Amazon!

"Paid a little extra for Samsung... well worth it" | 2009-10-26 |

Got a $[...] windfall of cash in Oct. 2009 and my wife had green-lighted a bigger TV purchase so w/ money in hand, I began my quest for the ideal TV.... I am an admitted research freak so of course I created my multi-columned spreadsheet and began scouring the internet for information. We had been using a 2005 Samsung 32" LCD as our main family room TV (due to financial constraints when we bought our new house)... of course, I had done my research on that TV and it had proven to be a good purchase, so Samsung was already on the top of my short list.
I could have gone w/ a cheaper Sharp or the 55-inch LG, but ultimately decided to spend a couple-few hundred more for the LN52B630 and not second guess myself later. BTW, my wife had seen her friend's LN52A650 and loved the red touch of color bezel, so the extra cost was easy to sell.
Anyway, in case you haven't fallen asleep, the LN52B630 is awesome. Blacks and contrast blow away our old TV (after setting adjustments..more later). At first, I was a little thrown off with the 120hz (I'm not a big fan of the 'hyper-real soap-opera' effect that some 120hz TV's display)... However, on this TV, you can manually adjust the 2 sub-settings on the 120Hz 'AMP' (Auto Motion Plus) feature... I read a review from some canadian guy and he suggested setting the AMP to 'CUSTOM' and then separately turning the 'blur reduction' up to a fairly high setting (7 thru 10) and turning the 'anti-judder' effect down to '0'.... bingo! Smooth 120hz refreshed picture without the weirdness.
You will also need to tinker with the settings (TV is on Showroom bright out of the box).. you'll want to turn the brightness and backlight down by a lot and consider turning off some of the other misc. processing modes.... I'd recommend getting a calibration DVD or having a tech tune it to get optimal picture.
One thing I've found is that the bigger and better the TV, the more you can tell the quality of the source material.
HiDef content looks fantastic (the higher the better) as do video games. SD looks eh... well... kinda like crap. Can't wait till it goes away. I can now see the diff. between 1080i and 720p. Anything 1080i looks brilliant and Blu-Ray... wow! To be honest, when I first got my PS3, I really couldn't tell the difference between Blu-Ray and upconverted DVD on my old 32" Sammy. Both looked great... but on this 52"... you can really see the difference. Blu-Ray - wow! it's mind-blowing. and it handles it at the orig. 24p.
I could go on and on... it's a great set. The only minor gripe I have is the inability to save your picture tuning preferences as a 'CUSTOM' saved setting and naming it something, which means that if I want to change the settings to watch football vs. watch a Blu-Ray movie, I have to manually calibrate everything (I used a cheatsheet).
So happy I bought another Sammy (BTW - got mine on 10/24/09 at Fry's Electronics for $1399+tax) |
