"Very good"

Overall an excellent set of earphones...an upgrade from my klipsch custom 2 and shure e3c; great midrange and soundstage compared to some of the others...can wear for a long time without fatigue, though sound isolation isn't as good as the shures (for plane rides, subway, etc). What separates these for me is that with most higher-end earphones, regularly encoded mp3s sound shoddy enough to ditch them completely for CDs (and lossless, SACD, DVD-A and blu-ray). But with these, there's just enough smoothing over of the digital signal to make even 128kbps mp3s sound decent enough for general use. That speaks to the versatility of the earphones - good enough for reference-level recordings, but it won't leave your mp3 player sitting in the dust either.

These sound like heaven. The best head phones ever. They cost a lot but are well worth it.
"it sounds terrible"

I bought 2 products from Ultimate Ears to compare them.
I connected both to my MP3 player and let them "burned in" for 24 hours before testing them.
-Ultimate Ears SuperFi 3 Studio
The sound is perfect. It doesn't put out a lot of bass but it's right where I want it. Treble and high sounds nice and very accurate.
Very very uncomfortable to wear. I've tried all the tips that come with it but I still couldn't get it to fit right.

Way too much treble. Bass is too fake, my $20 Smokin' Bud produces more "true bass" than these.
Very comfy. I put them on and 5 minutes later I didn't even realize that I have them on. Be able to wear it any way you want is a plus. I'm not a fan of wrapping the earphones cores around my ears like the SuperFi 3.
After few days of switching back and forth. I decided to return the SuperFi 5. I love the sound of the SuperFi 3 eventhough it's painful to get it on my ears right.
First the good: excellent midrange resolution. Much, much better than the typical earbuds included with portable electronics. The midrange is also free of obvious frequency aberrations. The low impedance makes them very easy to drive, i.e., they will play loudly from pretty much any electronics. (Please don't play too loudly. Once damaged, the lost hearing doesn't come back.)
Now the bad: top end is pretty severely rolled off. Extreme low end is also rolled off. Low end is a bit muddy. The SuperFi.5 is good, but not as good as I expected.
The foam and Silicone earpieces sound very different. The foam is less clear. My best guess would be that they either dampen the sound in the ear canal differently or they point the sound tube differently with respect to the eardrum. The foam has much greater attenuation of external sounds.
As another reviewer noted, the cable handling noise is pretty severe. This means that vibrations and physical impacts on the cable are audible through the earphones.
What range of sounds is produced is very good, but the frequency extremes are lacking and the top end in particular is peaky at certain frequencies and missing at others. A frequency response graph would probably show this pretty clearly.
My reference is the Sennheiser HD600 played over Cardas cable from a Pioneer Elite source, improved Assemblage DAC-3 DAC and Headroom headphone amplifier. See [...] for details.
Update: The SuperFi.5 sounds better for me when worn with the armature body up and cable over the ear. Instrument sounds are more natural. It seems that the ear pieces are significantly deeper in my ear canal that way too. This probably depends somewhat on the shape of your pinna (outer ear) and ear canal. Cable handling noise also seems decreased since the cable is up and out of the way, though over the ear cable routing is a little less convenient to me.
If the earpieces are deeper when worn armature up, then the sound levels are higher, so that's a confounding factor in evaluating sound quality. Sound intensity falls off as the inverse square of distance, and even small differences in sound level make an enormous difference in perception.
"Great product with super fast Shipping"

I heard only good words about this product and so I ordered it.
Just heard some songs and it sounds great but I have to use it for a while before I come to a conclusion. I don't know much about the music and ear phones and so I can't comment on this product.
The purpose of my review is that I am really impressed with the shipping of this product. I ordered the product on 28th afternoon and I received the product on 29th evening and that too it's free shipping.
If you want to buy UE super fi 5; buy it on amazon.

I was looking for sound isolating ear buds that:
1. Stay in the ears while moving around
2. block out most outside noise
3. Comfortable to wear for hours
4. Produce great sound
