I took this laptop from Amazon. It arrived in less than a week. The battery life is lousy. It does not last more than 2 hours at all. I called the Sony guy, he told me not to use dvd, music player, camera, play games, watch movies or open too many windows at a time, and to restore all the settings to default. I told him I haven't changed any settings and why the hell did I buy it for then if I am not supposed to use all of those things?? Still i tried to minimize the windows open and did not run more than 2 things but still the damn thing gave me just 2 hours of battery life. Also another problem this machine has, is it keeps disconnecting from wi fi every 15 min. No one else using the same router has this problem.
The laptop does look good and is fast but I am returning it to Amazon.
"Textured touchpad - try before you buy"

This is a nice looking laptop and I like the design.
As for speed and performance, it's a lot faster than my old Dell so no complaints.
I'm motivated to review the touchpad here because - to be honest it's driving me crazy. It's not a smooth touchpad - you'll see from the photos that there is a slight texturing to it. I didn't think it would be a problem but my fingertips - no matter how light or hard I press - don't move smoothly over it in any direction but downwards. They catch and start-stop. It's so frustrating - I went back to the dealer and we tried cutting a plastic iPhone cover down to size and affixing it over the touchpad but it didn't stick very well. Sadly I'm contemplating returning it which would be such a shame.
I don't mind using a USB mouse but still - I encourage anyone thinking of going with this particular design to really give the touchpad a try. Maybe it's just me, but ... ugh.

I have nothing but good things to say about this computer. It runs fast and has everything on here that I need and more. Everyone else review has said it all in regards to good things. The only negative I agree with is battery life but for all the good that comes with this... I can deal with that.
"Good Value"

Nice product in a very good value. My only disappointment was the battery duration. I never could get up to 5 hours as described in the product especification. Battery lasts for as much as 2 hours. Consider in your budget a long duration (6-9 cell) extra battery.
"Good Design, Bad Personal Experiece"

Usual good Sony design. I was really happy with it at first, but it kept freezing up and now I have either a) malfunctioning motherboard or b) crashed hard drive. It's only been 25 days since I bought it. I know Sony has a good reputation so I don't know what to think now. Is this product genuinely bad, or was I just unlucky to buy a lemon?

Light, quiet, fast and good looking. What else would you want from a laptop?
I'm very happy with it's performance and price (got it for $660 ).
