Very simple, easy to use and beautiful shape. We work in a Church and it is perfect for us. Also the delivery was exact like they say, we are happy with it.
"Can't divide MP3 files"

I bought this after being told by Tascam (via a retailer) that it can divide MP3 files. When it arrived, there was an addendum inserted with the manual to say that it cannot divide MP3 files. I tried this and can confirm you cannot divide MP3 files.
But you can divide WAV files if that is any consolation.
If it had the ability to divide MP3, it would beat the Zoom H2 hands down. As it is, I'm returning this and getting a Zoom H2 instead.
"Great Recorder and I found a nice case to go with it!!!"
There's already been enough good said about this remarkable recorder. I'm submitting this post so I can point out that the Case Logic Compact Portable Hard Drive Case (Black) provides excellent protection and a good fit at a great price. Hope previous and future purchasers will find this helpful.
"Great basic portable recorder"

I was looking at this recorder and the Olympus LS-10. I'm glad I saved my money and went with the Tascam. I bought an additional 4 Gig memory card, but I've yet to come even close to filling up the included 2 Gig card. I almost always record to 16 bit WAV format. I mostly use it for voice recording, and found I could use the built in condensers to record a conversation with a bunch of guys standing in a circle and still get good quality. I've also plugged in my Shure SM-57 and got good results. It's great that I can plug it into my Linux system with a USB cable and drag audio files back and forth. No proprietary interface. Menus are easy to understand, and it has every feature I've needed.
Only thing I could ask for is an external speaker (you'll need to use headphones). I can't complain at this price, though.
"Nice recorder"

This was my third digital recorder after trying and returning 2 different Zoom units (H2 & H4n) that both had issues where I was unable to record a Line Level signal without distortion. I have been very satisfied with the Tascam DR-07. It doesn't have as many bells and whistles as the Zoom units, but I feel for basic good recording functions, it works very well. It has a much sturdier feel than the H2, the buttons feel like they would hold up better, the cover for the USB connection and card slot is much better than the flimsy one on the H2. The display is nicer on the DR-07. The menus on the DR-07 are very easy to navigate. The recording quality is very good with either the built in mics or the line input. There is a fair amount of handling noise if you handle the unit while recording using the built in mics but this seems fairly common on most of these types of recorders. The AGC and limiter functions only work when you are using the mics and don't work on the line input, which at times might be a little unhandy as I use this to record live concerts connected to a sound board. Unlike the Zoom units, The DR-07 does not work as an audio interface when you connect it to a computer's USB port, it only allows you to transfer files. It doesn't have the tuner and effects functions that might appeal to musicians the Zoom models have. It is also a little dissapointing that it doesn't include an AC adapter (I had one from an older Sony Discman that was the correct voltage) so I saved 24 dollars
I've worked with both professional sound and consumer audio equipment for 30 years and Tascam has always had a good reputation when it comes to audio recording equipment. This is a very nice basic recorder and I would recommend it.
"Poor sound, short battery life"

I bought this on Sunday, intending to use it to record ambient sound, especially at camping events and festivals; I've been using the record function of my iPhone which is not great but it's always with me. I spent a while researching and reading reviews, but neither of the problems I had were highlighted in the reviews.
With the supplied batteries, three hours of recording time was all I could get. I was expecting more like eight - I'd like to set it in a corner and forget it, not have to keep feeding it batteries (we usually have no available AC power).
The sound was "chirpy" - lots of digital artifacts and cutouts. And lots of clinking and clunking - it seems to do a lot better at recording erroneous sound than the sound I'd like to capture. The iphone sounds better, I did a side-by-side comparison.
