I like this mic. I think it is ideal for using with almost anything after just messing around with it for five minutes. I recorded my brothers violin and voice and it sounded a lot better than the regular ipod nano 4th generation video camera mic. It was even better than my dads canon XL microphone. WOW. It was very clear sounding although it has a very soft and quiet speaker, I suggest using headphones to listen to your recordings. The connection was firm and wasn't lose like some have said.

Its definitely a cd quality mic but I think the way you record matters a lot more than getting a more expensive mic. It doesn't sound professional like a David Cook cd where everything sounds like a concert or you are right there hearing it. If you want to record something professional I would go to a studio because a professional sound takes professional engineer, recording equipment and professional work. That is what my brother says who is a recording engineer {his degree}. I hope this helps.

After many days of comparing similar products, I waited in anxious anticipation for my Mikey to arrive - a day early, too! I couldn't wait to hear the superior recordings this device promised. Unfortunately, the dock connector on Mikey is too short (size does matter in this case), and as a result Mikey never really connects with an Ipod Touch. Even with the case off and pushing it in as far as I could, it never locked and the Touch never saw a mic connected. So, Blue Microphones, back you go to the design desk for some 'enhancements'. Too bad you fell "short" on such a minor part.

While the text "from the manufacturer" suggests this works with iPod Touch, it does not. At least, it does not work with iPod Touch 3rd generation. Seems like a rather large failing--if you have Touch.

This ancient microphone doesn't support my 64 GB iPod touch or my 160 GB iPod classic, but it works perfectly with both of them. Sound quality is the best of all my iPod microphones including the Alesis ProTrack and the Shure SE420MPA. I love this thing, and thanks to all the reviews that claim that it doesn't work with new iPhones and iPods (not true), you can pick it up for about half price. Enjoy!

Blue's specs for Mikey say that it will work with with an iPod 5G, but I found this not to be entirely true. When plugged into my iPod the device emits a loud buzzing sound, but stops buzzing when recording or playing a recording. The rest of the experience was fine. The recordings were suitable for my needs and synced to my Mac, but the buzzing was a deal breaker and I returned the MIkey.

Haven't had it long, but so far I'm LOVING this mic - I bought it to record my pianist at vocal rehearsals - the sound is crisp and clear, very well balanced -- it picks up the quietest comments and it's simple as pie to use. I have shown it to all my performer friends, and everyone wants one. Playback is very VERY quiet, so it's not useful in that way, other than to double check that you recorded what you wanted to record - but it's a great feature to have, and it comes in handy a lot.
