I am somewhat confused with the operation of this unit. I'm not talking about how to use the unit, the directions are great. I'm talking about the unit itself. The tuning needle is all over the place. I have played the trumpet and cornet for over 50yrs. This is the first unit of this type that I have purchased. When I play a note of the scale straight into the plug in microphone, that I purchased separately, or the microphone in the unit itself, the meter is all over the place. One time it shows sharp and the next time it shows flat and maybe the next time it will be just right and all this without changing anything. I have a collection of over 30 name brand horns. Some of them thousands of dollars a piece. They all do the same thing. At first I just had the unit, the Korg TM 40. Next I bought the plug in remote microphone. Then I bought another tuner, the Korg 40 without the metronome, thinking maybe there was something wrong with the first tuner. It doesn't matter what I use the results are the same. I have come to the conclusion that I need to average out all the different readings and tune my trumpet to the middle of this mess. I don't know any more using the tuner, than I do not using it. The tuning slide on my trumpet is still in the same place it always has been, when I tuned it by ear. Maybe for some it may work out, but for me, I think I waisted my money.

Bought this item for my 11th grader to use with her cello. It was recommended by her orchestra teacher at school. She has never been able to tune her cello herself and now she can. The Korg TM-40 also has a tempo mode to help with her practice at home. Well worth the money.

This metronome combines all of the features I use on a daily basis as a professional trumpet player. The tone generator, the metronome, and the auto tuner all work very well.

This is a great product. It helps a lot with my practice time. Some products doesn't have a volume control and this does and its loud enough so that I can hear the tempo over my voice in a closed room. Very good product.

I had bought this to replace one I had lost. I notice a slight improvement in the design where it is now much less likely that you will accidentally turn on the tuner and/or metronome. With the old one I had, you were provided with little rubber adhesive dots that you could place next to the on/off buttons to hopefully prevent accidental power on. The new one I received has a slight curve to the outer case and the power button is recessed so it's a much better design in that respect.

As far as I can tell, it works just as well as the old one, which was just fine.

However, when I had bought it previously, it came with a nice little case, which this one does not. I think I would have preferred paying a couple of bucks more for a protective case. Yes, I lost the case too. :(

Also, I think someone mentioned in another review that they couldn't make the metronome step by 1 beat/minute, but the instructions clearly state how to do this (hold both up and down tempo buttons for a second until it switches mode). User error, not product limitation.
