Here is what people are saying about the The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl
5 Star Rating  "Beautiful Cookbook!!!"2009-11-20

I want to start by saying that I love Ree's blog! After reading it for awhile, I decided I wanted a copy of her cookbook. Then I came to Amazon and read some of the reviews and almost did not order it. After all, I wanted a cookbook with lots of recipes and some reviewers were saying it contained too many pictures and stories and not enough recipes. I went ahead and ordered it anyway because I like pictures and stories and Ree's are some of the best. I am so glad I did!!! It is the most beautiful cookbook I have ever seen. The photos are so bright and colorful. I sat down yesterday after receiving it and thumbed through it, reading stories and looking at pictures. Then I got down to business and found a recipe and made it for supper. My family loved it! I really like that there are step by step photos. It helped at one point when I wasn't sure what my recipe was supposed to look like. Later I went to the first recipe and started reading. The photos made each recipe look so appealing! For instance, the roasted corn salad looked so good that I wanted to try it right then, and I don't like corn! Then my husband picked up the book and looked through it and he said the same thing, "This makes me hungry."

So, if you like photos, stories, or really good food, you should definitely get this cookbook.

What a delight! Even my husband has told people about this cookbook. Haven't had time to try any of the receipes yet, if only one receipe is good out of this book, it was worth the price. Hope another cookbook is in her future.

I have been a fan of Pioneer Woman's blog for awhile, so I am used to the picture-by-picture recipe demonstrations. Now it is much more convenient to have her favorite recipes on my cookbook shelf. I have made at least 6 of these recipes so far and they have all been wonderful...and that's what my guests thought! I am a huge fan of hers and her cookbook. For the price, it's a steal.

If you don't know how to cook basic meals then this book is for you.
If you looking for something new, interesting and more advanced then you will be dissapointed.
Not too many recipes in it really, it's mostly about her life in the country, with a few recipes scattered in between the many family and animal photos.

4 Star Rating  "Good recipes, perhaps too many pictures"2009-11-17

The enchilada recipe is amazing. My family gobbled them up. Since I'm not familiar with the blog (my wife's a big fan), I bought this for my wife hoping that the recipes would be decent. The ones we've tried so far are fantastic! I do agree, though, that there are so many pictures that they downplay the recipes. I wanted this book for the good recipes, not the many pictures of cowboys in chaps. (while some of you got the book for these pictures and not the recipes!).

I am a cookbook aficionado and my husband got me this one for my birthday.

I'd never heard of the author (I've since learned she's well-known blogger). I suppose some people would enjoy the tale of how she met her husband and the many pics of her kids, spouse, horses (scroungy looking -- are they ever wormed?) and ranch life. But we actually live on a farm, and we have cattle and horses, too. So I was less than entranced.

More (and better) recipes and less gush about country living, please. My dear husband (wanna know how I met him? well ... ) is sending it back.
