I was really looking forward to trying out new recipes since I enjoy Ina's cooking show so much. But unfortunately, this cookbook was just not what I expected. There was no variety and too much about roasting veggies (which I love, but come on, I think we can do this without a cookbook now!) and other simple tasks. Pretty pictures, but not enough substance. Sorry Ina, I truly love you!

When my granddaughter moved into her first apartment at college, a few weeks ago, she asked me for recipes for some favorite foods, as well as ideas for complete meals. After sending some of my own recipes, I saw the Barefoot Contessa's cookbook at amazon.com. What a perfect gift idea for my granddaughter whose favorite cook on the Food Network is Ina Garten!!!!Lauren was totally surprised when I gave her the book. Not only does it contain the favorite recipes of the Barefoot Contessa, but it also has ideas for complete meals. Since my granddaughter is just learning to cook, she has found this cookbook to be so helpful. The book is beautifully illustrated and contains recipes that are not too difficult for a 20-year-old beginning cook to follow. What a wonderful way to teach my granddaughter to cook and to prepare healthful meals.I am so pleased that this item was available at such a great price. In addition, I received the cookbook just 4 days after placing the order.(Just another product available at amazon.com which has proven to be a smart purchase.) This one has more of the great recipes I have been salivating to try.

Ina Garten has a most wonderful cookbook here for the beginning or the advanced cook. The recipes are easy to follow and sure to give you a successful cooking experience. She really tests the recipes to make your cooking experience great. Thanks, Ina, for a classic that will remain in my family always.

This book will make you look like you've been cooking for ages, but without a ton of ingredients or effort. It has the perfect mix of recipes for all courses, appetizer to dessert. My only complaint is that some of the recipes (like soup) are for an army of people! If nothing else, make the roast chicken. It really is perfection.
