Highly recommended as a very good book providing a wide range of sheet music to suit all tastes. It is excellent as an archive of songs for musicians who want the choice of a wide range of songs to suit different occassions. Sheet music is presented in single or two sheet format making it very easy to copy and creating your own playlist selections.

My only complaint is that the binding is not strong enough to support such a big and heavy book and within two weeks of using it the index pages started to fall out.

I love all the songs that this book has and that there are so many different types. The 6 or 7 table of contents are great and make it easy to find a specific song or style. Since it has 1200 songs, I shouldn't complain but I wish the notes were bigger.

Most of the tunes in this book are presented in "lead sheet" form, and are apparently based on the original copyrighted versions, not necessarily the recorded arrangements that you may be familiar with. The chords aren't always 100% accurate, and you don't always get all of the lyrics. (This is characteristic of most of the Hal Leonard Fake Books). It's not anywhere near the quality of the Sher Music series of Real Books, but it's still a very handy resource, simply because of it's breadth.

This really is the ultimate Fake Book. I can't say too much about a fake book, but this one is everything that you would expect in one. Easy readability and has songs listed both in alphabetical and classified listings (ie; hits of the 1930's, 40's, movie hits, tv hits, and many other classifications. In the back of the book is a chart of over five hundred (500) Guitar Chords. With over Twelve Hundred (1200) songs, how can you go wrong with this book. One final thing, the songs run from very easy to very difficult to play, so that a beginner will be able to start playing them right away and gradually work up to playing the more difficult numbers.

This is a really nice book. Has a great variety of music....
The only thing I wish could be done when selling music books is to let the buyer know which edition it is, or in this case it was an updated book from a book called The Big Book. Had I known that I would have looked for a different edition cause I already had the "Big Book". At any rate it's a great book and I will give it to one of my son's who also play.
